Caution installing
These are excellent sights and give a very good sight picture even in low light conditions. Here are some lessons learned from installing these sights. If you have one of the older Remington barrels with rifle sights, installation can be a bit tricky. First inspect your rear sight. If the elevation slide has a lateral dove tail that the original sight fits on, then this Williams sight will not mount unless you replace the slide with one that has the hump on the back of the slide, and two narrow slots on each side of the windage screw. Also, the fire sight does not come with any screws, so you will need to use the slide tightening screw and the windage screw from the original sight. The front sight is also tricky. The original sight must be removed by tapping it out FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ONLY. And the new sight must be gently tapped in from RIGHT TO LEFT. If you slip tapping it in, you cold easily break the fiber optic element of the sight. Before tapping in the new sight, clean the dovetail slot thoroughly, and lubricate the contact surfaces with silicone or a very thin lubricant. But like I said, once installed, this are really fine sights.

Might need to get a matching rear sight slide with this
I bought a set of these to replace the original iron sights on my Remington 1100 smoothbore slug barrel with a 1977 barrel code. The rear sight on a 1977 slug barrel features a two piece sight that rides on a dovetailed ramp. The bottom part of the sight is called the "sight slide" and the top part, the aperture. The aperture on my original is machined to slide over a horizontal dovetail on the top of the rear sight slide. The rear sight shipped with the Williams kit is the aperture piece. The Williams aperture is not designed to mate with a sight slide equipped with a horizontal dovetail, but rather a slide with a flat top and a curved "roll" at the end for the elevation set screw. The "flat top" version is the same one used on Remington Model 700 and other Remington rifles, and I had to source a used one off of eBay in order to accommodate the Williams aperture.People interested in this pre-2003 set should inspect their sight slide closely to see whether it has a horizonal dovetail, and if it does, make sure they can get their hands on the non-dovetailed flat top version before ordering.

leaving the front sight useless or unrepairable
Really give old eyes a reboot, especially in the early mornings and late afternoons during low light periods. The front sights are fragile if bumped too hard can break off the fiber optic piping, leaving the front sight useless or unrepairable. I have 10 sets of Williams fire sights and only one has broken so far. Luckily, two of the sight sets had extra front sights included and was able to replace the broken one.

Nice and bright
Nice and bright, easy to see. Had to modify my rear ramp dove tail a little for a good fit, but not a problem.

Looks great, just a few fitment issues.
My 870 is an older model Police Wingmaster. The front sight fit, the rear did not-at first. Ended up buying a new sight base for the rear to make it fit.
