Cudy AC1200 WiFi Extender, 1.2Gbps Home Signal Booster, Dual Band 5GHz/2.4GHz, Covers up to 1500 Sq.ft and 30 Devices, AP Mode, Mesh Supported, RE1200

I used this extender to replace an IoT devices Wi-Fi internet adapter. While I could not find just an adapter (wired to Wi-Fi) that would do what I needed so I decided to look at Wi-Fi extenders that had at least one wired port. This unit allows both older and newer devices to connect and the onboard management interface is fairly straight forward to work with. One issue I had seen with extenders was that they would rebroadcast your network settings and possibly not be as secure as your primary Wi-Fi router setup. While these units are not as robust, you can mimic most of the security settings of your primary system and then hide the SSID by not broadcasting it. This has worked perfect for my wired device connection and allows me to extend the Wi-Fi signal even though that was not my original intention. They do say it works with most routers, and I can verify it works well with the Netgear Nighthawk line.

I use this extender as a wireless access point, connected directly to my router, because my router's wireless is pathetic. It works well in place of my router, but the 5G range doesn't seem to be too good. From 2 rooms away, I can barely get a signal. I understand that 2.4 GHz Wifi can travel farther than 5G, but the super limited range still doesn't seem right. That said, it still works well with 2.4, and I get good speeds. The browser control panel also has an easy to use, clean looking design.

Very simple to setup but it does not link with the router except when it is in the same room as the router. That makes the extender pretty useless in my home.

Set-up as easy just follow the easy to read instructions. Works great so far. Good range.

Quick easy connection to my Router and thats it, Nothing would connect to the Cudy, tried every thing, nothing would connect, returned item.

I was really iffy about buying one of these since I would always see reviews saying it would frequently drop connection. My house is fairly small, but my room upstairs in the bonus room can't get a strong signal and would keep losing connection. I bought this and placed it in my room and I've been getting strong connection and better dl speeds akin to what should have been the case with the regular wifi.Only issue was setup was a bit tricky since it wouldn't connect to my router for the first couple tries.

Range is just awful. After 20 feet with a direct line of sight, you lose one bar. Then at 30 feet, another. Then it’s gone.
