Simple and effective
I bought this product after travelling to Switzerland last year with our dog, and finding that it picked up ticks that are really hard to remove. (We treat the dog with deterrent drugs which may help but are not full proof). So this year, back in Switzerland, the dog acquires a tick within a week. This tool is so easy to use (just watch the video on their website) and works perfectly.Aside from doing the job, it also removes the human stress of worrying about the tick and how to remove the damn thing! One other thing - before you start the removal, make sure you have a jar or PET bottle with an inch of alcohol in it (can be surgical or simply some old brandy or vodka you can live without). Drop the tick in the alcohol straight afterwards. Otherwise, they can jump off and reattach to the animal! The alcohol will kill it, but we keep a dedicated bottle now, ready for the next one.For anyone travelling with a dog in Europe, this tool is a no-brainer purchase.

Getting rid of ticks on dogs.
Getting ticks off the faithful hound is not so much fun. Local folk-lore suggests dabbing on various applications, but I have never found these to work. Either they do nothing, or the tick dies while still stuck in the hound. These little gadgets work splendidly. You have to fit the fork carefully around the tick, as close to the dog's skin as possible. Then a quick spin, and away comes the tick. I have carefully examined the tick, post removal, and the little monster is quite intact, no 'mouth-parts' left behind. Little monster wanders off in a dazed manner, and you can stomp on it at your leisure. The sort of ticks we get here are pink round little dears. I have seen pictures of other kinds of ticks, and I don't know how easy they would be to remove; but they would probably be just as easy. The pack gives you removers of two sizes.Essential for all rural dog owners I would say.

Can't really tell...yet!
Looks like ideal for the job and costs a fraction of vet bills. My shetland sheepdog had a tick ( we were'nt sure) sticking out the crown of her head. I tried to remove it...it broke and I took her to the vet the next day because I was worried about the effect it might have. The head was still in and was extracted..no need to worry..£20 please! (which I thought was not too bad). Anyway I was relieved. Then met a friend who has used this tool to good effect on a number of occasions, so I bought it but thankfully have not had to use it yet.

Brilliant little gismo
Very handy to keep in when you live near fields and cats and dogs can often pick up ticks. It was a reasonable price and easy to use. However, I did manage to remove a tick by smothering it with Vaseline and it died and fell out!

Wouldn’t attach
Could not slide it under the tick and removed it with my fingers. Our dog lost patience with me trying to attach it and I guess it is also a little painful at the tick site.

It worked to get rid of the tick
My dog got a tick under his chin really close to his bottom lip. It took me about 2-3 days to get the tick off my dog as it must of been really sore, every time I went near it he would stuggle and squerm to get away, he is a small yorky terrier and quite old so I didnt want to over stress him. When I did hook the tick I had only just got the thing on the tiny little hook when my dog pulled back and out it came.(with a loud yep!!) I thought I had it all out but a month on and my dog still has a brown crusty lump with a hole in it and a red sore one next to it. Given that it has been a few weeks now I will probley visit the vets to get him checked out. If your Tick is not in a painfull area it will be perfect tool for the job and it arrive about 3 days after ordering

Easy and effective.
I have not had a tick problem with my dogs until this year and bought this product due to the good reviews it has. I can only say it lives up to those reviews. You simply get the tick between the prongs and twist. Out comes the tick with its head in tact, lessening the chance of infection. Easy with both large and very tiny ticks. Don`t bother with other methods of tick removal such as suffocating with cooking oil etc. - buy one of these instead. It is so much easier and far more effective as well as being more comfortable for your cat or dog.
