Excellent multi purpose compass...
This piece of kit does all that it claims to do and does it well. It is very good value for money and is robustly made. The weather forecast facility is especially useful and, surprisingly, accurate. It is powered by two A A A batteries and is very easy to set up. I checked the altimeter against an OS map and found it to be accurate. The compass is very sensitive and totally accurate (again checked against an OS map) and is easily set if you follow the instructions. It is light and readily fits in the pocket being the size of a small mobile phone. The seller offered excellent service and prompt dispatch.

Don't expect too much from this cheap device
The first time I used it outdoors, when took it out of my pocket the backlight was on (permanently) and the functions frozen. Had to take the batteries out to force a reset, when of course meant all my setting up was down the drain. It would be useful if there was a manual way of turning the backlight on (and off) rather than the very brief time it presently stays on for.The compass seems pretty useless and needs calibrating every time I try to use it. Actually I don't need the compass function at all because my iPhone does it so much better. The user instructions are confusing (yes I know they're written in proper English words that can be understood on a one by one basis, but when you sequence them together you get sentences that are somewhat unbelievable). For example, how can the reading of a barometer NOT be affected by changes in altitude? You'd need a far more expensive GPS based device to measure altitude by its own means to apply a compensation factor. Anyway, I bought the thing to measure altitude so I ACTUALLY WANT the pressure reading to be affected by altitude. The one redeeming feature of the device (which gains an upgrade from 1 to 2 stars) is that it seems to measure air pressure in a reasonable manner, and that's what I bought it for! Perhaps the device is trying to do too much (it's the bits that go beyond what I bought it for that are pulling my star rating down).

Ok

Pointless
Even after calibrating the altitude meter at sea level, it kept changing the measurement of our home's altitude, doubling up the number of meters overnight, then reducing them again. Every morning a new value, without even touching the device. The direction compass is imprecise as well.Of rather limited use, not to be recommended.

Just the job for dad's chrismas present. Hopefully now he won't get lost walking the dog, mind you I think the dog knows the way home!

Nope
Sorry, absolute rubbish, we went from 27000 feet above ground level to 15 feet and back again in a few days !

Okay as a childs toy
If you are buying this for the Altimeter or Barometer don't bother, it's totally inaccurate.
