ASUSUSB-AC56 Wireless USB Network Interface Card - Dongle - 867Mbps - Dual-Band, Black

I bought this for a workstation that has no Wi-Fi card and is usually connected via Ethernet cable directly to my Asus RT-AC68U router simply because I wanted a wireless solution as a backup in case my internet connection ever fails ... my neighbours have kindly agreed to me using their Wi-Fi in such an eventuality.As with all Asus products this item looks smart, is well constructed and just gets on with the job.Installation was child's play. Simply insert the supplied CD and run the installation which puts the required drivers on your PC together with a nice Utility Programme. Once that has finished installing, plug the device into a USB port (preferably USB3 but it is of course fully compatible with USB2 if that's all you've got) and it will finish installing itself with the drivers. The Utility software can then be used to scan for available Wi-Fi connections ... select your router from the list and click on Connect whereupon it will ask you for your Wi-Fi password and Bob's your Aunty. I couldn't be bothered using the WPS button press facility to connect since the manual route is just as quick and easy if you know your password.Mine was up and running in 5 minutes and is working trouble free delivering the full available speeds on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.I highly recommend this dongle, particularly if you have an AC capable router like the RT-AC56U ... a match made in heaven.

Just unboxed and set this up, it's fairly easy (the Asus Utility takes over the use of the tray icon for Wifi connections).Speed improvement is really pleasing. I'm using this with an Asus RT-AC87U so wanted this USB adapter to use on my laptop to achieve the maximum speed I could from this very fast router.Results:Before the Asus RT-AC87U I is was getting around 25Mbps on a Netgear Dual Band N routerAfter the Asus RT-AC87U but using a dual band N USB adapter I achievved just over 50MbpsWith the Asus RT-AC87U and this new ASUS USB AC56 adapter I am now getting 75Mbps(note: all of the above is running through a USB2 port, it will be interesting to see if a USB3 port offers any speed improvement).The results speak for themselves. Another great bonus is that (whilst using the antenna) the signal strengths are much MUCH higher than before, I can even see many more networks in the neighbourhood (even the guy across the road shows a full 5 bars of signal strength now).Very impressed with the product and Asus build quality

I live in a house with thick stone walls, which has had multiple extensions over the years, meaning that some of my internal walls are actually external thickness.I could either have added wireless access points all over the house or purchased a dongle.I went for the ASUS AC56 as I have AC wireless in my home already, but it would equally work with slower network standards.The item performs well, and has allowed me to go anywhere in the house, or outbuildings, with no issue.The only point to be aware of is that it protrudes quite far out from the USB port, if you are in the habit of moving around with your laptop, you need to be careful when placing it on soft surfaces so as not to stress the connection.I imagine this is to facilitate the aerial.It comes with a stand, which is great for when it's being used at a desk.

The dongle is well made and has a modern looking texture. The package included an extension cable and a base, which means I can set it up at the top of my PC tower for better signal. It comes with a huge antenna (compare to the size of the dongle itself), which helped to boost the signal further. Hardware wise, I would like to give it 5 stars.However the software does not quite work. First, the ASUS util does not work on windows 10. So don't bother to looking for the shortcut to launch it after you install the driver. Anyway you don't need the asus utils. Once you install the driver and plug-in the dongle, windows will set it up "correctly". However if you stops here, it works exactly like a 802.11n dongle with 2.4hz band. It requires further setup to make it fully functional as 802.11ac dual band. It frustrates me that ASUS didn't mention any of that in its support manual.Here is what you need to do:1. Open "Network Connections"2. Open "Properties" of the WiFi connection3. Click "Configure" -> "Advance" tab4. Set up the properties as below:BeamCap: VHT BEAM TX|RX & HT BEAM TX_RXLdpcCap: LDPC DisablePrefered Band: 5G firstStbcCap: DisableWireless Mode: IEEE 802.11acMy connection speed improved from 150Mbps to 570Mbps. My router (Apple Time capsule) was set up in a different room. You might get better speed if your router is closer. (Disclaimer: I do not want to pretend I am a networking expert, these are my own configuration which helped me to improve my connection speed. Try at your own risk.)Overall, it is a great dongle but completely useless unless you know what need to be done. Hence the 3 stars review.

This both very easy to use and very powerful. To install, load the CD and install the driver, then plug the device into a USB port. After that you can go to its control center but to be honest I found it quicker to just use the Windows usual LAN icon (at the bottom of the Taskbar). Right click on it, choose your router and connect. I have a -ac ASUS router and have gained significantly both in speed (20%) and coverage (2 more bars) compared to what was available from my laptop Wifi card. The litte UBS dock makes it easy to tuck away the receiver, which is smart but not small!By far the best external wifi receiver I have seen so far.PS: I have a complicated set up, with two different extenders (Billion and Netgear) due to the house being very long and on two different mains circuits. This works beautifully with everything, not just the ASUS router (itself fantastic, by the way, see my review if you're thinking of buying it).

Très bonne clef, très volumineuse mais réellement performante. J'ai senti la différence de débit en Wifi par rapport à mon précédant dongle WiFi DLINQ.Pour info : elle est compatible avec les NAS Synology.

Con la antena realmente es de un alcance muy bueno.No necesité ningún conocimiento en especial. Fue enchufar, poner la clave del Wifi y funcionar. Respecto al wifi incorporado en la MB he incrementado la tasa de transferencia casi en un 100%. (En mi caso una Wifi de una fibra de 300 MB me alcanzaba unos 80-90 Mb con el adaptador incorporado y me alcanza unos 175 Mb ahora, con una distancia considerable del router)El único pero puede ser el precio comparando con otros adaptadores, pero el rendimiento lo justifica

Questa usb wi fi probabilmente è il meglio che si può trovare.Ha un entrata usb 3.0 per una banda ancora maggiore e supporta reti a 5 ghz.viene fornita con manuali, antenna aggiuntiva per una ricezione del segnale ancora maggiore, cavo e basetta per un posizionamento ottimale e il cd di installazione driver, che per chi utilizza windows 10 come me non ha bisogno di inserire, perchè il sistema provvederà ad autoconfigurarsi.Parlando invece di prestazioni posso dire che è eccellente. Ottima per il gaming online e lo streaming.Esteticamante è fantastica..l'unica pecca è che si e quasi obbligati ad usare la basetta perchè il peso e la lunghezza non agevolano l'utilizzo di una usb diretta del pc, ma comunque le prestazioni non variano.consiglio a tutti quelli che vogliono sfruttare al massimo la loro connessione( io la uso con fastweb fibra e funge da dio).complimenti amazon per la puntualità !

Der Stick ist sehr gute, ich betreibe ihn mit einem Asus RT-AC56U-Router auf dem allerdings DD-WRT läuft. Mit der Stock-FW lief er auch gut, habe aber keine langfristigen Testergebnisse. Jedenfalls handelt der Stick mit dem Router eine Geschwindigkeit von 867mbit/s brutto aus. Damit lassen sich schnell Dateien übertragen und eine 200mbit/s Internetanbindung voll auslasten, durch USB 3 entsteht auch kein Flaschenhals. Der Stick selber ist ziemlich wuchtig und macht an der Rückseite meines Mainboards den Onboard-HDMI-Port unbrauchbar. Ich brauche ihn zwar nicht, aber man sollte sich der Maße bewusst sein. Die Antenne ist ebenfalls groß, aber es muss ja auch was "rumkommen".Der Treiber von Windows oder von Asus ist allerdings eine große Schwachstelle und brachte bei mir nur sehr unzureichende Performance. Trotz ausgehandelter voller Bandbreite konnte ich lediglich 1mbit/s Upstream erzielen. Mit dem neueren Treiber von Edimax läuft alles wie geschmiert, Asus sollte hier schnell nachlegen. Also bevor man in Trauer ausbricht oder den Stick frustriert in die Tonne wirft: Edimax-Treiber verwenden und über den Gerätemanager von Hand installieren. Dann lassen sich auch Beamforming etc. problemlos im Gerätemanager aktivieren.Fazit: Sehr guter und performanter WLAN-Stick, Konfiguration und eventuelle Treiberprobleme erfordern tiefgreifendere Kenntnisse.

Installation super simple sur le DSM 6 de Synology. Compatible AC donc excellente bande passante pour faire du Streaming depuis mon NAS.
