Even after seeing the measurements online, I was shocked at how tiny this smoke detector is. Don't let size fool you though, it's loud! It's easy to install and I like being able to connect to the app to make sure everything is running ok or to get notified of any problems. I haven't had the fire alarms go off yet (thankfully) but we've got the water leak detectors in the basement and they've worked perfectly so I would expect the same from the smoke detectors. I'll be ordering more of these detectors or the combo ones with carbon monoxide detection as well for the rest of the house.

We have existing hard wired smoke detectors in the house. Having something that can communicate to my phone provides better peace of mind. I haven't done a smoke test, but let's hope we never have to cross that bridge if these in fact do work while powered. The smoke detectors came packaged well. It was a little difficult to remove the back cover. Battery was already installed with a strip that needed to be pulled off. Getting these mounted was a breeze. The app took a little getting used to. Particularly around the naming for the devices, home, etc. So far so good. I notice that every now and then it will rapidly blink blue for about 5-10 seconds then stop. Not sure if it's just confirming/establishing a wireless connection?

Sets up quickly, app interface is fairly intuitive. Testing is simple. So far it has accurately alerted me to my inability to cook steak without burning it.

This is a very small smart smoke detector. It's about the size of a softball, maybe smaller. It is light and the mount is unlikely ever to loosen from the ceiling even when attached with the basic drywall anchors included in the package. Connecting to wifi is very easy and the connection has been steady. The app works fine, but a minor negative is that you need a paid subscription to get additional features and they let you know this fairly often when you use the app. However, it is important to know that there is no extra charge for the most important function of the app: notification that the alarm has activated.This smoke detector uses a photoelectric sensor, which should be more sensitive to smoldering files than the typically cheaper smoke detectors whish use ionization detectors.I did test the detector with smoke and it did alarm within about 30 seconds of being held in the smoke. The phone notification worked flawlessly.A nice function is that the phone app can silence the alarm for 9 minutes so you don't have to climb up to press the button to temporarily silence it.Aside from the app sometimes advertising for a subscription, another minor negative is that the detector uses a CR123A battery, which is somewhat obscure, but hopefully it will rarely need replacement. Also, the detector will only connect using a 2.4 gHz connection, which should not be a problem for most, although a rare few might only have a 5 gHz network.Very important note: As a standalone smoke detector, this detector is not legal for use in California, where battery powered smoke detectors must contain a sealed 10-year battery. However, if you already have adequate hardwired or 10-year sealed battery smoke detector coverage in your home, this can be used as a supplementary smoke detector. There should be a notice to this effect on the box and in the Amazon listing.I am happy with this smoke detector as a supplementary smoke detector to our legally required ones, although it does not fulfill California's smoke detector mandate.

2nd Smoke Detector:After ordering a replacement smoke detector, because the first one wouldn’t connect with the Hub. The second smoke detector would not connect with the hub. My Wi-Fi works great. My Bluetooth worked great. The QR code didn’t work. I contacted X-Sense for Assistance and received a reply that they were out of the office for three weeks. That three weeks would’ve been past the return window. So their customer service was nowhere to be found as they actually shut down the company for a three week vacation. I was left with a smoke detector that would not connect to the hub. If I wanted to stand alone, smoke detector, I would’ve bought one. But the point of having a smoke detector connected to a hub, which is connected to Wi-Fi, so that I could be notified if there would be a fire in my home when I wasn’t there.My suggestion, find a different brand.1st Smoke Detector:The smoke detector was not ready to use as it came with a 100% dead battery. I will be ordering the battery that I need and hopefully in a few days when I receive them, I will be able to try to connect and use my new smoke detector. So if you decide to purchase this, make sure you order CR123 batteries at the same time. After installing the new battery, after at least a dozen attempts, they smoke detector would not connect with the hub.

These little alarms are great for tight spots like attics or crawlspaces. They connected quickly and easily and give peace of mind in less traveled areas of the house. It's easy to check on them via the app and to get notified if they need batteries changed. Haven't had a true use for them and hope that I don't, but they seem like a quality product. They appear to regularly run through a self check, too.

Very good. It was easy to connect and the test immediately on my cell phone. A minor peeve, if the mounting screws are installed level, the unit itself is just a few degrees out of being perpendicular.The instructions were complete and gave a range of acceptable mounting dimensions.It works! Had it on the kitchen counter before I mounted it on the wall, when I exhaled the vapor from my vape, it set it off and it sent a notification to my phone. I am highly confident that I will receive very timely notification should fire erupt in my house.I intend to purchase several more for optimum coverage of my home.
