Very useful summary notes - condenses the Advanced Level
Found this book very useful for pre-exam revision and in the exam itself. Lots of useful tips on CR in general in the introduction and then clear notes on FR, Audit and Assurance. Also useful summaries of the DAS questions to date.Having things organised alphabetically is much easier and quicker than having things linked to chapter 1, chapter 2 etc from the Workbook. The book is also WAY shorter than having to look at CR Workbook, FAR Workbook and A&A Workbook!I like the way that the book makes it clear which notes are directly from ICAEW answers and which are based on the Workbook (for topics not tested much or at all to date). Having summaries of recent model answers easily to hand is a lifesaver, although you have to tweak accordingly in the exam of course.Surprised by the "Tom Morrow" review about waffle: the audit risks and tests are in bullet point format and FR content is quick to use in my opinion. Most of the marks in CR are for narrative anyway, not debits and credits so you can't pass just from CRs and DRs, that's just not how the marks work, this isn't Certificate Level Accounting.Suggesting that the book is written by someone who hasn't taught accountancy is just plain weird. The notes are based on official ICAEW answers so unless the examiners don't know how to answer their own questions, the notes seem useful to me.Have been using PS books for the last few years and they work for me, and seems clear the PS team are trying to help.
