Happy with the performance and range over a previous struggling range extender :-)
I bought this to try and improve the quality and speed of my WiFi connection to my loft.I have been using a WiFi extender by TP Link which has three aerials and looks like a Robot. (Not 100% satisfactory but worked better than iwithout) I bought the GigaGate not expecting too much as I needed to receive through 2 floors, but having read some good reviews I jumped in at what I though a high price at the time but, hey ! In my loft I have an Amazon Echo, A Y-Cam Home Monitor camera and a Gaming PC and a ireless Printer, all previously on WiFi. I set up the base in the living room , although I wish it had an additional Ethernet throughport ( I had to disconnect my TV from the Virgin Router to add the GigiaGate and run the TV wirelessly). Setup was straightforward and a new Wireless connection was created. I set up the Gigagate using an Ethernet cable to the Gaming PC and the Echo, printer and camera wirelessly. ALL worked after a couple of false starts apparently due to password input errors. My Ethernet (wired) shows around 975mbits average, and connects quicker than previous. In fact all my connections seem improved , even in the living room. Previously my Loft Echo and Bedroom Echo lost WiFi regularly (Virgin Router only) but as yet have not lost Wifi since the GigaGate installed.. my PC connects quicker and my gaming has improved in that I have killed several enemies in Battlefield 1.. next is a quicker Gaming Monitor for Christmas (already wrapped by the Wife)

An excellent product and does the job for me
An excellent product which does the job for me. Compared to the alternatives from BT and Netgear, which cost £300+, this is a much less expensive option. It's still a lot of money in my view, for what it is. Minor criticism. There is no 5GHz wireless available from the satellite only 2.4Ghz. Not really an issue, as most buying this, will be using wired connections at the satellite.

An excellent product with fast connection speeds
This is a good product from Devolo. In situations where very fast top spec Powerline devices have failed to provide a reliable connection, the Gigagate manages it quite comfortably. I have the Gigagate base unit and two Gigagate satellite units. In one scenario I'm using Gigagate to stream Sky Q HD signals to a Sky Q mini box 10m away through a wall, without any dropouts, where Sky Q Wi-Fi and a TP-Link AV2000 powerline had been too unreliable. The other Gigagate satellite unit connects the PC in my study to a NAS drive downstairs through a floor and two walls, 15m meters away (the NAS drive, Sky Q box, broadband router and Gigagate base unit are all on a network switch in the living room). In this scenario I’ve copied a 25GB file from the PC to the NAS drive in around 7 minutes. Windows Copy function reporting transfer speeds of around 60mbps. This is significantly quicker than the fastest Powerline devices I've used. The only glitch I've come across is that the Gigagate satellite units regularly report low data reception rates even when there doesn't appear to be a problem. This is evidenced by the signal status LED on the front of the box changing from white to red when the Rx rate drops below a certain level. However Devolo's PC software and the base unit both report a steady connection speed. This appears to be an issue with the way that the satellite units report the connection rate, rather than actual transfer speeds, as there are no dropouts during video streaming or slow down in file transfers.UPDATE - 03/09/17 - The latest firmware update seems to have fixed the issue I mentioned above, which was 'cosmetic' anyway. This is now, without question, an excellent product and my preferred method of providing network connectivity between different rooms where Ethernet isn't available.Highly recommended.

Cableless connection and reasonable wi-fi speeds
I bought the GigaGate because after having fibre installed I didn’t want cables around the wooden floors in the house and it was cheaper than a mesh system. It was easy to set up and works fine most of the time, the signal does drop occasionally between the base and workstation but is soon recovered. We now have almost total wi-fi coverage on all 3 floors even though both units are located on the ground floor. Transfer speeds aren’t as good as cabled but I’m generally happy with the performance but that’s mainly down to the new fibre broadband not the devices.

Fantastic product! Very reliable over distance!!
Having several dead spots in my house I decided to invest in the Develo GigaGate.Installation was so simple and I'm getting solid broadband over a distance that is comparable to a house across the road.Really pleased with this product.

Back to square one!
The range between base and satellite seems to be more limited than the standard Devolo network adapter even though I understood that this could connect anywhere across the same electricity mains supply. Base and satellite paired perfectly when in close proximity to one another but when I moved the satellite to a room that I have had connected using a Devolo network adapter for several years the satellite lost connection with the base. Despite several calls to Devolo support and hours of trying to get the satellite to connect where I needed it I gave up and reverted back to the Devolo network adapter. I now use the Gigagate satellite in an adjoining room to the Gigagate base and it is connected to a smart TV. Speed of data transfer is great when the base and satellite pair but they can not pair over any great distance.

Rubbish
This product claims to provide gigabit transfer speeds. In the event could not achieve anything better than 8mbits/sec, so less than 1% of the advertised speed. This was with the base and satellite units in the same room. Its like buying a high performance BMW with an advertised top speed of 155mph and finding actually it won't go faster than 1.5 mph. Has been a complete waste of time and money. Sent it back. I did e-mail the support line but received no response!
