Use the condensation flap on the back end
This thing is a great value, the newer model has an input for a diesel heater hose on the driver side bottom hinge. Mattress is pretty comfortable for how thin it is. You may want another set of latches as said in another review. Important to let it dry out between uses or going to the car wash. Do not spray it with high pressure water on the seals. First time camping I was in the rain and snow and I was completely warm and fine and dry. Next time I would use the ventilation flap as condensation built up on the inside. Fabric is very thick and looks durable. Very easy to set up.

Review based on first impression; haven’t used it yet
So far, first impression looks amazing! It was lighter than I expected to carry and lift up onto the rig. The packaging for delivery as unexpected, comes in a very protective wooden box, which for me, was hard to open as I didn’t have a crow bar but managed to open it (now figuring out a way to recycle the wooden box :)). I’m 6’4” and “I fit” just about right. I feel with two grown adults and a toddler that this might be a better fit only for two, even though it was advertised for three (somewhat misleading when it doesn’t refer kids or adults but I’ll still give it 5 stars). Quality seem to be well made and it was raining in the PNW right afte ri installed it and I loved the rubber insulation around the exterior of the RTT, giving me a good sense that water intrusion will be limited on this flam shell. I’m looking forward to adding the rest of the attachments and my own shower privacy tent and awning later, in preparation for the camping season. So far so good, but have not tested out fully yet and will update.

For the cost, this is a great buy!
Like others that have reviewed this clam shell tent, I'm very impressed so far. It showed up in a hard wooden case that did a great job protecting it. I added two ladder racks from Amazon (see description below), to my 2017 Dodge Ram 1500. I drilled into the bed rail and bolted those on. Lifting it up on to those rails required a friend to help, but it wasn't hard to do. After bolting everything together, I hopped inside and it was easy to open/close and comfortable. I have not taken it camping yet, but I'll add additional detail to this review in a few months when I use it a few times. Two things I noticed that I have not seen in other reviews:1) the back flap zips from the top down, but does not zip across the bottom, so if you push on it or the wind blows hard, it flaps open a bit. I does hang over the back edge but does not zip close. I found this strange. Either I didn't see how to attach it in some other way, or this is some kind of safety feature so air can get in (that's just a guess).2) The two half's of the clam shell have a rubber seal that keeps water out when closed. I noticed that in the middle, the two half's were not as tight as the ends. I assume this is because of the length of the aluminum. Since there are T channel tracks built into the aluminum frame, I purchased some additional clamps and t-slot channel nuts and used them to keep it tight (see descriptions below). It has worked perfectly (see pictures). This cost almost nothing, well under $50. I did notice and ordered two of the clamps used on the back of the tent to keep it closed. Of course they showed up after I had already installed the cheaper versions. Each of those clamps cost $40, so to purchase four is another $160, I'll see how the cheap ones work, but, just so everything is the same, I may "bight the bullet" and purchase the stock clamps.I hope this helps - so far this is looking great and I can't wait to give it a try!Truck Ladder Rack, Aluminum Ladder Rack for Pick Up Truck Adjustable Universal Truck Bed Ladder Rack with 800 lbs Loading Capacity (Black)3030 Series M4 T Slot Half Round Nuts Roll-in Spring Ball Loaded Elastic Nuts Carbon Steel for European Standard 3030 Series Aluminum Extrusion Profile Rail with 8mm Slot for 3D Printer(M4,20 Pcs)Naturnest Rooftop Tent Accessories - Extra Extra Latchs for Tentchfine 4 Pack Toggle Latch Clamp 4001, Adjustable Toggle Clamps, Heavy Duty Toggle Latch Hasp Clamp, 150Kg 330Lbs Holding Capacity Quick Release Pull Latches for Smoker Lid Jig, Tool Boxes Case, Door

Worth the money!!
Very impressed with this tent, easy to put up and take down. Mattress is pretty comfy. If staying in it for multiple nights. Ya might get another foam mattress to put in there. Just a suggestion. We Ended up getting caught in a small storm one night. The tent held up fine and didn’t get wet inside. Although condensation that sits on the tent fabric for to while does start dripping inside (found this out on another stay in the tent) but nothing to excessive. Sleeps 2 adults comfortably. But to add another would pretty tight and crammed . Ladder is sturdy and strong. Zippers seem pretty strong. And tent is absolutely pitch black inside when zipped up completely. Which we loved.

Very high quality tent for the price
Update: Took the tent camping in northern New Mexico. We had a couple of cold weather bags, which were a little bit of overkill for 40ish degree nights. The tent slept great and the mattress pad that came with it was actually really nice. By far it's the most comfortable stock mattress I've had so far. There's a ton of storage up top and the LED strip inside the tent is super bright. The blackout interior is no joke. When it's zipped up it is DARK inside the tent. I thought I would miss not having a skylight for airflow but that wasn't an issue at all. My only complaint, if it is a one, is there is a rail to hang the shoe bags. It's on the back of the tent. I wish there was a way to move it to the side, because we have a hatchback and are unable to use that window for access. The ladder worked well. I was worried about it when I first got it, but after fiddling with it, I got it to work well. This is my third RTT, and my first clam shell style. I've been impressed with everything so far. My only concerns are the ladder seemed like it was bent out of the box. It's really hard to open and close. I haven't see one that has been this hard to retract before. I literally have to tap it with a mallet to get it to retract all the way. One of the side poles really sticks and doesn't look aligned very well. I'm assuming that that's a one off problem though. Also, and this is very minor, there is a small electrical plug near the bottom front of the tent that should have a cap on it to keep dust and debris out of it. I didn't find a cap for it in everything they sent with the tent.Everything else seems to be very good quality.
