Beautifully pigmented
I’ve been a Crayola snob since I learned how to hold a colored pencil in my hand. For almost forty years, I’ve exclusively used Crayola. That’s changed now. This 520 pack gives you so many more variations of color that it’s unreal. I think the best Crayola does is 150? So, just in terms of variety, Kalour is winning. The pencils literally glide across the page. They’re beautifully pigmented. I tend to color with an absurdly light hand, and they still look amazing. Imagine how they’d look if I actually pressed hard! But it’s like dragging a stick of butter across a hot plate, it’s that smooth. It also came in a fairly functional box that didn’t result in me peeling the skin from around my fingernails to access the pencils, which is always a win. The trays are a bit flimsy, as they’re very light plastic, but they do the job. And the tin is actually kind of pretty with the sea turtle. The size of the pencils is about what is standard for a colored pencil, both in length and circumference. The tops are rounded off, so if you wind up hitting yourself in the face, you’ll just get a rounded, lacquered end, rather than a new crescent shaped red mark.Organization is also great for someone who likes to keep things in order—obsessively so. The pencils are numbered, and that’s a game changer for me. I don’t have to ask myself where the colors fit in with ROYGBIV, because Kalour has it organized according to their own method. But having things in numerical order just makes me happy. The price is a bit much for coloring supplies, but the price is there for a reason. These pencils are worth every cent. They’re such amazing quality that I can’t say enough good things about them.If you’re on the fence, go for it. Buy them. They’re amazing pencils, and I can’t believe my Crayola snobbishness prevented me from finding these ages ago.

TO IDENTIFY PENCILS QUICKLY
After completing the color chart, I can tell these pencils are very soft and blend beautifully. I will put them to the the real test once I use them on a draw/painting.SUGGESTIONS to the MANUFACTURER:1.- These are a lot of pencils, stored in 13 trays. For some of us, it is important to be able to locate particular colors easily. To that effect, I suggest to number the trays and add the tray number to the pencils occupying that tay. The tray number should also be added to the swatch template. That way, when many pencils, from different trays are used simultaneously, it would be easy to store them back in the correct tray. Please refer to the pictures to illustrate this suggestion. I used a permanent marker to number the trays, and acrylic white pen to add the tray number to the pencils. As you can understand, all in all, this took some time to do, so I believe having this filing system ready at unpacking this product, would minimize customers relucancy to buy this set (intimidated by the sheer volume of pencils) or improve customers experience with it.2.- I also suggest to have all the information you included in the swatches template (plus the tray numbers) but more importantly the colors' NAMES in a .pdf or similar format so it can be downloaded. This would allow users/customers to do a simple search using the color's name and quickly identify where to find the pencil among the 13 trays.

Holy smokes!!
I bought these solely based on the good reviews. Usually a colored pencil set with more than 120 colors can be a miss. This, is not. These are incredible. The glide on paper so buttery smooth. They come close to my set of CeZanne pencils. I didn’t find any repeats but of course a ton of colors come close enough. They all came with a perfect sharpe point and as I filled out the color card (which will take you a few hours) NONE of them broke. Woohoo!

If your hesitating DON'T!
If your hesitating on purchasing any Kalour set don't. I bought this set after buying the macron set. I fell instantly in love with them so it wasn't even a blink of an eye for me. The pencils don't break easy and are very soft. They blend well too. I want a few more of the Kalour sets to have a full wide range of options. I also bought a travel set that has 154 pieces that includes water colors & drawing & sketching sets. So I just would like to have the full metallic & the full watercolor pencil sets and that should just about cover it.

Mine looked used
For cheap pencils it’s ok!But it looked like mine were already used when I received mine! The pencil casing it’s splintered and split and busted on a few of mine! I will keep anyway but I probably wouldn’t purchase this again

Fantastic Set! Highly recommend!
Hands down a great set of pencils! Had to get this set as I previously purchased 2 smaller sets. Early in my art journey it was important to me to learn how to blend and make new colors, here it's already for you! I find this set to be well organized and thought out. I enjoy portraits landscapes, waterscapes etc and I can blend even more colors. Normally I don't swatch new sets of pencils, I typically will use a scratch paper but felt that I needed to do so with these since there's so many color variations and it was absolutely enjoyable, the colors really pop. The lay down is smooth and seamless, the colors are stunning and having metallics, florescents, pastels and primary colors, the possibilities are endless. These budget pencils will be used interchangeably with my artist grade pencils without a problem and the price means I can buy more when needed. I did get 2 Champagne Yellows and am missing a Tuscan Yellow so I'll need to get that one hopefully as a single. Bravo on a great set of pencils and I highly recommend them to others. Kalour if you're seeing this, how can I get a Tuscan Yellow pencil? 💛 Thank you so much!
