Easy and quick to install
Easy to install, and looks ok-ish. Cutting all of the fence elements to the right height was too much of a hassle for me, so now they stick out an inch above the side of the solar panel, but I think it's still acceptable. Took me less than an hour to put them up, so that's a big plus.

Easy installation
Easy to install if you have safe working platform, I have no problems with pigeons anymore and the product looks good when installed and should last years. The only problem I had was the cutters supplied with the 2 packs I ordered weren't up to the job of cutting the plastic to size, I had to twist the cutters after putting pressure on the plastic.

Expensive but they work perfectly
These are expensive for what they are but you are paying for the research and development really. They work perfectly and are easy to install.

Great idea for solar panel owners
What a great idea this is for solar panel owners. Defender are the market leaders bird deterrent products and I have confidence that this kit will do exactly what it says on the box. The package includes 8m of plastic bird spikes in 24 lengths each measuring 33.3 cm. They are designed to fit around the perimeter edge of solar panels, usually on the roof, in order to stop pigeons and other vermin from accessing the underside area, which does not sit flush on the surface. The spikes are transparent - almost - and therefore the deterrent is almost invisible to those looking up from the ground. Each kit comes with a 285ml tube of Defender Bird Spike Adhesive Silicon Gel, and a pair of snippers, in case you need to shorten the length of the tines (depends on your roof and situation). The attention to detail really provides confidence that this company know what they are doing on these matters and you're in good hands. All this experitse does not come cheap however - an 8m pack is currently on sale for £43.92 while a 50m pack (for a large roof section) is £224.50. I guess the idea is that if you use quality products proactively you don't have to pay for tradesmen to come out with scaffolding at a later date, which would unsurprisingly cost considerably more.

Great idea but going to need a lot to complete the job
This is a great idea to stop pests from nesting under the panels. Thankfully, my solar panels are easy to get to on the garage roof. I have 16 panels across each side of the roof 8 each and in two rows of four. The kit comes with 24 strips of excluders and you are going to require 3 for the shorter bottom edge of each panel. That means I can do the bottom of both sides of the roof but for the edges ... the typical length of a panel would require 6 additional excluders. So, doing the math, I would require another 48 excluders to full cover both roofs and a single end and an additional 24 to cover the top part of the panel. That is a fair amount extra but it is possible to purchase a larger bulk pack where the price is reduced about £1 a metre. Something worth considering. Please also keep in mind, this is not a five minute job fixing them. Because of the contours of the tiles, these must be cut (with the included snips) to match the shape of the roof. Then use the sealant to finally fix the excluder.Yes, there is a fair bit of work involved in installation but this was obvious prior to receiving these and it does not detract from awarding a decent rating. As the idea is sound and the last thing I would want is a rat chewing through the cables. My only concern (and this is not a criticism), is nowhere does it mention these excluders are UV protected. If they are not they will break easily and even one small gap is enough for the rodents to enter which defeats the whole purpose.

Very useful but quite fiddly too install
Worthwhile investing in these; I’ve got two different friends who have had solar panels for over 5 years and they both have had issues with birds nesting under their panels. One has a damaged panel and the other has a damaged wire, both expensive problems to fix compared to these. It is time consuming to fit if your roof tiles aren’t flat, as you have to cut each prong according to the tile. The snippers provided are good at doing this and each prong has kind of etched markings to allow a clean cut in certain places.Clearly panels come in different sizes, but we have rectangular ones, I’m not sure of the dimensions but approximately 1m in length and shorter width. The single box is not enough to completely cover the entire way around. The silicone is provided, so again useful to get all you need in the pack, but it does take lots of preparation to get them sorted. Well worth it if the plastic stands the test of the sun long term - Time will tell if they are indeed UV stabilised.

Unobtrusive design, well made.
These solar panel defenders are aimed at pigeons but I am using them to protect against nesting starlings. We seem to play host to a small army of them! Each year they return, eat everything, poop all over my husband’s car (he’s not happy) and take up residence. When I’m laid in bed I can hear them and it sounds like they are wearing clogs when they are on or under the panels! So while they’re away on their holidays we thought we’d act and use these defenders to make the solar panels impenetrable and hopefully stop any potential damage. My husband is waiting for a decent day weather wise to fit them but he’s quite happy with how they are installed and the quality of the product. They are made from UV Stabilised Polycarbonate Plastic, so should last well year on year.I love my garden birds including the starlings but I’d like to avoid them costing me more than bird food and I think that’s this product ticks all the boxes. In my opinion it’s a fair price, a straightforward if time consuming install and an unobtrusive design.I hope you find my review helpful.
