The Travel Survival Guide: Get Smart, Stay Safe Paperback – 5 April 2018

As both a traveller and a nurse who trains healthcare professionals around travel health and safety, this book stood out to me. I wasn’t disappointed! It’s superb! Easy reading and essential advice and tips on how to keep yourself well and safe whilst travelling. The author clearly has so much personal experience to bring to the book, it doesn’t get much better than that!

My lad now travels the world. He learnt quite a bit from it. Great book (he says).

Loved the stories and practical advice in this book. A must for all travellers, and parents of would-be travellers and adventurers.

I received this book as a present and it's packed full of adventures, as well as so many handy travel security tips. The author is an international security expert, who clearly knows his stuff, but writes in such a way that the book reads like an adventure story. It’s like having James Bond in your backpack! Useful, humorous and potentially life saving.

I am an experienced traveller but just about to set off on a Round the World adventure as a single mother with my 6 yr old son. I found this book a very useful resource with lots of insightful and highly valuable information. Although I use a lot of common sense in my personal risk assessment when travelling this book still covered many areas that I hadn’t previously thought of and whilst I ‘hope’ most of this will never apply to me, it never hurts to be over informed and over prepared for all possible eventualities.

Bought as a gift for my god-daughter who is planning a gap year trip. Whilst the narrative includes tales of extreme issues they are usefully linked to simple practical tips that she and her friend are already putting in place.

I probably would have given 4 stars as there's some useful information here, but I felt I had to dock a star since I bought the water bottle the author recommended and I'm very disappointed with it. It leaks if not kept upright!

Brilliant book from a master adventurer. Tales of a life well lived that will give you the confidence to travel where you never dreamed possible, but in a safer, risk informed manner.
