Lovin’ it

I wanted to replace my harmony universal remote. I’m extremely satisfied with this Sofabaton X1. In many ways it’s superior to the harmony. The remote is aesthetically pleasing, not cluttered and the buttons have a nice click. The X1 performs all the operations that you could need for any entertainment setup. The X1 was marked down to a great price and I didn’t see the need to go with the X1S for very little upgraded features.I only have an Insignia fire tv, a Roku express, Directv and a Visio sound bar. Setting up the hub and adding these four devices was fast and easy. Creating three activities (Directv, Roku and fire tv) was also easy, however it did take over an hour. After adding the activity I spend more time adding and changing button functions to meet my preferences. I made some changes by using the learn function and it made this process quick and easy. The app does a good job guiding you through the entire process. Another great feature is the remote IR blasters. I want the top of my TV cabinet clear of any devices (except for the TV and soundbar) so the Directv and Roku are inside behind close doors. It’s easy to place the hub and blasters to control all the components without being seen. I very happy with this remote and don’t miss my harmony at all.

3 day review - Expensive, but you get a lot

I'm coming from a Harmony Elite remote, and this remote/software/hub does pretty much everything that I was able to do with the Harmony. I use the remote to control my TV, receiver, Roku Ultra, and Oppo 4K Blu Ray player. I have activities set up to automatically power on and switch sources, using the receiver for volume controls on everything while retaining the controls for each device. I also have XBOX and Switch set up for that's just for source switching and volume. The activities worked fairly well upon initial setup, but I had to alter some commands as they didn't work. No real big deal. The software still isn't quite as refined as the Harmony software, but that's mainly cosmetic. The software seems to be able to do everything that the Harmony could, but I would need a little more time to play around with it to really get into everything. When a command doesn't work on the remote/hub, on the Harmony there was a button on the touch screen that would automatically try to fix the command for you, then ask if it was fixed. That was really nice. The SofaBaton doesn't have a touch screen, and I haven't yet looked for an option like that on the software. It's nice not to have to open up the software to fix something. Usually it's a power on / off command that needs repeating now and again. Again, no big deal as you can also just repeat the activity command.Physically, the remote is much lighter than the Harmony, but doesn't feel cheap. USB C charging, which s nice, but the Harmony had touch contacts for charging, and came with a base that you could just set the remote into to charge. There is no touch screen on the SofaBaton, and the screen is also smaller. The remote has been responsive, so no complaints there. There is no IR emitter on the remote, but that's also a little redundant as the hub takes are of that too. This includes 2 remote IR receivers for the hub to hit if your devices are hidden, but I haven't used them as my equipment rack is open faced. The remote button face is very clean, and I almost like it more than the Harmony. There are a few specific command buttons that the Harmony has but I haven't missed them as I believe they would be more beneficial to a setup where you're command more than just A/V stuff.Overall, I am enjoying the SofaBaton X1S and would definitely recommend it for a replacement for the Harmony environment. I look forward to future improvements on the product!

Horrible, the remote doesn't sync correctly.

This thing is horrible, slow or no response to button presses, sometimes the buttons don't work at all, erratic behavior. Have to keep switching activities to get the remote to sync with the activity you want.It ignores button presses until it suddenly issues the commands all at once 30 - 60 seconds later. Navigating menus is next to impossible, you click down, wait, nothing, click down again, wait, nothing, click it a third time, wait, nothing, click it a forth time and suddenly it issues four down commands at once. If you don't click it a second time in the first place, it never issues the command at all. It's like fighting with the remote, I think it has the soul of a demon cat in it, it only does what it wants, when it feels like it.I reset it and reprogrammed it a couple of times and nothing seems to help.

Good, but glitchy, no number pad

It wasn’t terrible to set up, and it’s nice the Finally be able to control FiOS and my “smart” TV with one remote. But! The lack of a number pad makes navigating channels a pain. Transitioning between two “activities” (like pre-set commands) is glitchy. Kind of expensive for these drawbacks
