Smooth sailing
Just purchased a second one! I just needed a nice box to hold external nvme drives and also have some "old school" bigger drives and this works so smoothly I am very happy. First one has been with me for about 6 months and I haven't lost any data, no hard drive has died or any other issues, so just got another one to use for steam deck game backups. The fan is nice and quiet, the enclosure is sturdy and well built. I have only used it in single drive mode as I don't trust software raid and only ever use raid 5 not sure if this would suffice.

Do NOT Buy for Mac
I have had this for 3 months using on a Mac. This device keeps randomly ejecting the drives and crashing my Mac (tested on multiple devices with M chips with multiple different drives -both on and off their compatible list).I have contacted their customer support via their website. They asked me to try about 20 different solutions - none of them worked. After days they told me that I should update the firmware, which turned out to be only possible on a Windows machine. If you are using a Mac and you run in to any sort of firmware issue you are unable to do anything. I am also sceptical that this would be the solution, as their multiple many other suggestions didn't work.

Great storage, slow interface with no daisychain.
Lots of options for storage and with my Mac Studio I have it setup in RAID 0, BUT and this is a BIG BUT, it’s interface only allows for Thunderbolt2 speeds or about 1020 MB/sec.Whereas this company’s smaller storage solutions supports speeds of up to 40Gb/sec or 4 times faster. Which doesn’t make sense!!Surely the bigger the storage then the faster the interface. TerraMaster have it the wrong around. Also another ossue is that there is jo daisychaining which I really needed as I have had to spend another £150 on a thunderbolt splitter. That aside, it is easy to setup on MacOS. I have four 2.5” SSDs in RAID 0, and four NVMe SSD’s in RAID 0, and all works perfectly.

Perfect is you need a small DAS unit.
So far so good. It’s been reliable and fast. The extra storage with the nvme single drives is useful. Totally recommended but make sure you want DAS and not a NAS.

An Interesting Device
This is not a NAS. It attaches to your computer and files are transferred from the computer to the drives stored on the DX8. There is no network connection. The manufacturer’s assume that everybody uses Windows, but the MacOS seems to work flawlessly, formatting RAID drives and writing to and from without problem. It will work without RAID, but lacks the popular RAID 5.The major criticism I have is that there is only one USB 3.2 port on the back and it is thus far slower than it needs to be. A Thunderbolt 4 port would give this the speed it so richly deserves.

DAS not NAS
Some compromises but overall great value for money and silence with SSD, I experienced a minor issue which was instantly addressed. I purchased another after refund highly recommend can also be used as extra storage for your. NAS check compatibility can’t fault.

Didn't work for me - Returned
I wanted to use this so much, if it worked it would have been perfect! However it wasn't working correctly. I added 2 crucial 2TB M2 SSDs and on my debian PC I tried to create an mdadm RAID1 array of the 2 SSDs and the OS told me that the disk 2 was having bad blocks and then disconnected.Even running smartctl -a /dev/sdc and /dev/sdd would fail against the drive in slot 2 all the time. Slot one worked fine.I asked amazon to swap the SSD thinking that the SSD was bad, then when the new replacement one showed the same errors on slot2 of 3 I realised it was the enclosure that was causing the issue.Hence the return.I replaced this enclosure with 2 USBc enclosures for M2 SSDs and created the mdadm RAID1 array without any issue and both SSDs report smartctl perfectly every time.Bad QA or just a flawed product?!?!

Another Mac user
Purchased and have used this daily for just over a month. I've 2 6TB drives in Raid and 2 Nvme (WD heatsink 2TB) . All very straight forward.Every hour it drops / disconnects either one of the NVMe SSDs. The 6TB are fine.Tried changing the cable / re installing. Its become painful and distracting - I can see over reviews from mac users mentioning this.Shame.
