Jeep Radio Replacement
The radio in my Jeep Wrangler stopped working. This was an old school radio not a touch screen. I decided to replace it with a touch screen radio with Apple car play. After researching for awhile, and not wanting to spend a fortune, I decided on this Awesafe touch screen radio. As a bonus it came with a backup camera which my Jeep didn't have. All in all a good radio. The instructions were a little vague but if you take your time it's not too bad. Watch the video. Very helpful as you have to take off some dash pieces to get the OEM radio out. The wire harnesses it comes with is plug and play. The directions for the backup camera left a lot to be desired. The directions state to connect the red lead coming off the video plug to the reverse wire going to the canbus. I did not do this. I just plugged the female video plug harness into the radio and the male video plug into that. On the other end of the cord, the end that goes to the back of the Jeep, I tapped into my reverse light and connected to the red lead and a ground wire to the black lead. You will need to research to find what color wire it is. Then I plugged the camera into that cord. Another thing to mention is that you will need to purchase some kind of mount for the camera. I bought one for $45 that goes onto the spare tire holder then the spare goes over it. The camera pokes through a wheel spoke. One issue I had was the camera that came with the radio projected guide lines that curved to the right even when the wheel was straight. They would move back and forth when backing up with no rhyme or reason. I reached out to customer support and was contacted by Amy. I must say she was great and over the course of many days stayed with me. She offered various things to try and asked for screen shots. After multiple tries she set me a new camera and cable. I tried to plug the new camera into the line I already installed but it didn't work. Before I ripped out the line I had installed I reached out to Amy who got back to me and asked me to use the cable that came with the new camera. I hot wired it to test and it worked. The guide lines the new camera projects are straight and stay straight even when turning. That's ok because there are orange guide lines that appear when turning I believe generated by the radio and these lines work as they're supposed to. To sum it up, it's a great radio for the money (I have nothing to compare it to cause I've never had a touch screen before), installation was fairly straightforward but directions not great. If you have some mechanical aptitude you should be fine, if the backup camera has curved guidelines you may need a "different" one, and you need a camera mount if you don't already have a camera you're replacing.

Good value for the money
Overall great value. The usb charging is occasionally weird and so is the Bluetooth connection but a simple disconnect and reconnect solves it. Overall for the money great product. I would’ve given it 5 stars if it would’ve worked with my built in USB charging port.

Apple CarPlay for less than the big names but quirky.
2018 Jeep JKUThe head unit was shipped quickly and instructions are provided via a QR code. The video was helpful but still needed some additional “googling”. There is no mention of the backup camera install. The head unit functions as it should. Sound quality is good; however, I have the alpine stereo. On CarPlay you have to crank it close to the max but on the radio you don’t have to do that. There is no fix for that. Bluetooth connects well. Just don’t walk away with your phone if you are connected. It seems like you have to basically reboot to reconnect. Tech support is pretty quick but not much help. First question I asked in regards to the latest firmware update and if it helped with sound quality. (Zlink connection) they told me there was no firmware. About 5 email exchanges back and forth they mentioned a firmware update. Still no help with zlink or phone mirroring. (To watch Netflix or YouTube TV)Overall you get what you pay for and this will due the trick until it goes out.***Revised*** after working with the seller having multiple messages back in forth I found the setting for the output. If you are using an iPhone make sure “sound check” is turned off in your Apple Music setting. This setting controls the amount of output your phone has. Now that it is turned off the head unit produces at least 30% more power to your speakers.

Short lived excitement
I have installed several aftermarket radios over the years and I was excited for this unit when it arrived, it is very easy to install, it even looked great sitting in the dash. Unfortunately the honeymoon phase was short lived. I installed this in a 2016 Wrangler and once it turned on, you realize the screen is too close to you for this type of vehicle. Once you remove the plastic off the screen you can’t see it with sun glasses on. Sound quality from the radio stations was decent but once you connect your phone, all the songs sound muffled or distorted. I tried the wired and wireless connections and there was no change. I went through multiple setting on the radio and my phone with very little improvement. You connect your phone via Bluetooth then when you go to connected devices it has nothing there. When shutting the vehicle off there is a lag from the phone switching from the radio unit back to your phone. There is severe lag on the touch screen when swiping and the touchscreen was slightly off from where your finger touched the screen. Once I installed the backup camera, followed the instructions they provided, I started smelling burning wires, I immediately disconnected everything and went back to my stock radio until I can find a better option and returned this item.

Read before install.
The bracket is stamped upside down. If you’re installing on 1st gen jk 07-10 dash you will remove the center dash, and install only the bracket that mounts the radio. It comes apart with force. Then you put the big trim back on and connect all your wires and push radio into bracket. Took way too long to figure it out. Make sure the bracket that hold radio is upside down or the radio wont fit when you put upper dash part on. Overall it’s a 9/10 radio it’s fast and lots to customize. Has 3 rca outputs which is nice at the price point. The system isn’t too slow and keeps up with what you ask. Wish it had more audio controls but I use amps so it is what it is. Overall I’m happy with it came with camera and mic. Just wish I knew what install was gonna be like. It’s all plug and play though.

Great for screen replacement!
Had the typical gel screen cracking. Bought this to replace. Followed the YouTube video for replacement. Was not too difficult. Took maybe an hour. New screen looks and works great!!
