Requires care but overall an excellent dish rack.
I really like this over the traditional, white plastic dish rack. The tray on the bottom does not have the slope that allows draining to the sink, but I have never had much luck with those draining properly anyway. The stainless steel is easy to clean with a bristled brush and the 2-tier design allows a little more room. If needed, the top section can be lifted off and set next to the bottom to create more clearance for bulky items.Important Note: Stainless steel does not mean rust proof. It is quite possible for stainless steel to corrode (rust). There are over 150 grades of stainless steel and some are more prone to corrosion than others. Generally, the higher the chromium content, the less likely the steel will rust. However, over time, rust can and will develop on stainless steel.I think this item is getting negative reviews because the buyers do not know how to care for it. It's just like taking care of a wrench, ratchet, or other tools. You have to put time and care into keeping this item maintained. No mechanic would leave their favorite tools wet, no mater how 'stainless' they are advertised as being. You should be aware of chemicals that can strip the finish off, as well as anything that is abrasive or corrosive. If nothing else, you could always find a water-sealant for metal and coat it; but I find a little care is plenty to keep this rack looking nice and working well.Tips for care:1.) Dry rack and tray between uses. Use a fan (which also will dry the dishes faster), blot it dry with a towel, or just tip the rack and tray up on their side to prevent water from pooling while it evaporates.2.) Do not allow deposits from water to accumulate, remove them with vinegar. These deposits can give corrosion a place to take-hold, and it just looks bad.3.) If small spots of rust start to form, polish them off with Brasso or some other metal polish as soon as possible. Be thorough and do not use metal wool, as this can create deposits of iron on the surface which encourage rusting. Stainless steel is only stainless when the surface is 12+% chromium.4.) I recommend against placing this rack inside the sink as it's home. Not much airflow to dry it, and it also means water can be trapped against the sides as well as the bottom for extended periods of time.

A must have all metal dish rack with a great design to maximize “space”
I specifically wanted to write a review for this purchase. Despite other reviews, we absolutely love it. It’s all metal (which is important to me because of the bacteria related to porous plastic). The bottom shelf is great when you have more than 3 glasses or smaller items you’re drying. The higher top shelf allows us to dry more on the bottom shelf too. Top functions as it should for dishes. It’s a thinner metal but if it holds up I really could care less. An all metal dish rack is SOOOO hard to find. I’ve got my fingers crossed on this one. So far so good!!!

Yes.
OK. So, as some reviewers have written about the rust issue. Yes. Eventually, it is going to rust. ANY metal dish rack will, unless you buy one that has a plastic coating on it, and even then, the plastic will eventually crack, and the metal underneath will eventually rust. However, this rack is just awesome! The best I have ever used. Yes, the tray does NOT have a drain, which is kinda lame, but I just put a small towel down on the bottom to help with that. Very pleased with this product.

good value
Will this dish rack last forever, no but it is visually nice for a small space that I happen to live in. You do have to clean it every once in a while or it will rust but for this price if you bought one every year or two it's well worth it. It doesn't have a drain opening in the sink which is why you eventually get rust on the bottom but compared to other rack in this price range this seemed like a better deal to me. Why pay more for a rack with a drain when you can have this inexpensive option that looks great and is effective but heaven forbid you clean the bottom of it every once in a while. So yeah, I liked it.

Not loving it...
Updated:The rust on the flat bottom surface has gotten so bad. I clean it after every use? It's supposed to be a dish drying rack. It's an eye sore and not practical. The rack itself has also started to rust pretty bad. Wanted to like this bit function was definitely not considered! Loss of money.Original review 2 stars: Searched awhile for this type of open bottom style with the upper rack portion (and who really wants to spend time searching for dish racks?) Yes, it looks great when you first get it. Purchased in January 2017 and now 3 months later I notice the water stains on the bottom sheet. I know rust comes next. I've used it maybe 20 times. Maybe less. Very disappointing because I really like the design and style. For now it is workable because I can wipe down the tray and rack...but is that really the point of a drying dish rack? Someone forgot to incorporate function into the design.

Great Design, Disappointing Rack Wire
We used a single-tier, all-stainless-steel dish rack from this company for over ten years—the longest-lasting dish rack we ever had. Last month, we finally decided to replace it due to the ungainly rust accumulated under the feet of the rack. We ordered this two-tier dish rack by Home Basics, which seemed to be the successor of the old dish rack.It retains many merits of the old one, like the stainless steel tray and cutlery holder. We really liked its new two-tier design, which allows more space for cups and bowls. However, we were disappointed to find that the rack wires are not only thinner but also made of chrome steel, which is very prone to rust. After some pondering, we decided to return it.We hope the manufacturer can make an improved dish rack with the same thick stainless steel wires as the old dish rack. Even if it costs more, we are willing to pay for a dish rack with good design and materials.
