Love this tiller
I really love this little tiller! I have owned two gasoline 2-cycle engine small tillers which were great, but when they’re not used a lot they are a maintenance issue. This little tiller really churns the soul and chops it to a fine consistency. The grass really wrapped around the tines, but the design allows for simple removal of the tines without tools, making it easy to clean. The only drawback I have found is that if the tines hit anything that resists at all — even clay dirt — the battery pops out and the tiller stops. But I learned on new, harder soil to raise up the times and gradually dive into it. I did buy an extra battery but so far the battery that comes with it has been enough on a single charge.

Greenworks 40v tiller
Very pleased with this tiller. Out it together myself, age 74. It propels forward for light tilling. Pull back for deeper tilling. Fairly easy to control. I did my 30' x 30' garden between the rows in less than an hour.

Impressive
I got this after my attempts to use a garden rake were back killing. And, I have been truly impressed with how well it works. My only issue is the same issue I have with almost anything you get these days. The instructions. The verbiage could use a little clarity. And, I'm sure it was a construction quirk but the top half, which had to be attached to the lower half, I found the top was way to wide. I had to use a clamp to hold it in place to get the bolt attached. So, here is a construction suggestion. Instead of attaching 2 pieces, why doesn't cause 1 section slide into the other? It would make construction and storage adjustments much easier.

Greenworks 40V DC Cultivator
I have a 50 ft x 100 ft garden that I till every year with my TroyBilt Horse rear tine tiller. For weed control and dirt cultivation during the growing season I like using a small cultivator. I have used 4 cycle gas engine cultivators but they don’t last long and require continuous maintenance. I purchased the Greenworks 40V cultivator and to my surprise it is comparable in performance. I bought a second battery and found the two batteries will last long enough to complete a pass on the whole garden.

The battery outlast me. I have to stop and rest before the battery wears out.
Works well and removes most of the weeds. The machine stops if you hit a rock. Does require some strength and muscling it around.

Beware of little rocks not boulders.
Buyer beware. This 40 volt system is absolutely incredible but the cultivator is an absolute piece of crap. I am a review reader and I thought I had this checked out but I really missed it. You watch the videos on Youtube and you think you get a good idea of how well it works.First off it is well understood that this is not a rototiller but rather a cultivator. A couple of the videos give the impression the people are breaking ground with it and it works fine. Well it does not. We have a new house and the dirt in the back yard was hauled in about 10 months ago. It has NOT sat there for decades compacting. We run this machine through the soil going down no ore than about two to three inches. We hit a small stone maybe an inch in diameter and the machine stops. You then release the bar then push the button and pull back the bar to start it up again. It does not start. You then have to remove the battery which is no easy chore. It takes three hands to do that, literally. Reinsert the battery run another five feet hit another stone and go through the battery removal thing again. We spend more time dealing with the battery than we do cultivating. If you had an established garden bed that was void of all rocks, stones, et al then this machine would be great for cultivating. Beyond that it is a waist of money. If GreenWorks would put out a little more detailed information then they would not have unhappy customers like me. I am now even afraid to buy other GreenWorks equipment that uses this battery because I have no confidence that their equipment is what it is claimed to be.I am now beyond my return time or Amazon would be getting this machine back.At this time I would not recommend spending your money on this machine.

Bad Customer service
just received the 40V 10" tiller cultivater. Used it a couple times and it really did dig down into the dirt. It has removeable tines(blades) which are held on by inserting a pin into a whole. The pins have a ring on one end to make removeable easier. In the case of the unit I have the rings broke off. The pin fell out as well on one side and i cant find it and for the other side i found both pieces.I have been trying to contact greenworks via phone spent hours on hold. and via their web site and there is no way to input anything into the web site. I have a lawn mower, blower and string trimmer all from greenworks. Never had any problems so never encountered this before.I whish someone could advise as to how to contact a living being so I can get the replacement parts.
