Whyter out door in-cabinet ice maker
I purchased this unit almost 6 months ago and was extremely happy with its performance, but then it stopped working. Since we were going away for several weeks, I shut it off. When we returned, I turned it back on and checked on it several hours later and it was back making ice again. Just prior to dinner, I opened up the ice maker door and steam poured out. It red hot inside and the ice bucket was filled with water. After a quick call to Amazon, they told me it was a 3rd party sale and would get me over to Whyter technical support. I was all set for a “sorry I can’t help you”. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to speak to very lovely person who politely.asked me to explain the problem and take a few pictures of the front & back of the unit and include the purchase & shipping info. She then asked if I would remove it from the cabinet, plug it in and have it go through one ice making cycle and call her back. I called her back and tol her that it did not get hot or cold. It appeared to be dead. She thanked for the info, asked for my shipping address and said they would ship me out a new one within the next few days. A day later she e-mailed me to tell me the unit was ready for pick up and the next day she told me that it was picked up and gave me the tracking info. You never like having a problem with your purchase, but it’s not often that you can say that getting a resolution was quick, efficient and painless. It was. Thank you, Whyter,

DO NOT BUY!!!!!
When I first purchased this product it was running and working great! Now here I am less than a year later, the ice maker has not only stopped making ice, but it also became a oven (the inside melted an entire bucket of ice in less than an hour), and began making an incredibly loud noise. Unplugged it, let it sit, tried again, same result. Item IS STILL COVERED BY WARRANTY, so long as you don't mind spending a few thousand dollars to ship it out to California! Even bought the 5 year warranty offered at the time of purchase! They tell you to talk to the seller. I will NEVER buy another product from Whynter and anytime anyone else asks I'll tell them the same thing. It's good if you only need it for a few months, but don't get to attached to it. It ends up just making a very fancy shelf after it dies.Update: After posting this review the company DID reach out to help get this ice maker fixed and running again. I will update again in the future!

Dependable, quiet and way better than other brands.
This is my 3rd one. The ice maker just keeps chucking out cubes. It's actually more than we can use. I push up the wire bar to stop the automatic ice maker. The only reason I bought this one was because I broke the last one by putting an ice bag into it to keep the bagged ice frozen. The machine was in the auto mode and it kept trying to make ice. The Ice bag jammed the mechanism. It was my fault not the machine.Terence R.

Good ice maker
This is the third unit I bought. The first one lasted 5-6 years, the second one lasted only 2 years to the date so my hope is that this unit will last 5-6 years also. This ice maker works well if you don’t live in a humid place or have it outside, since mine is outside under a cover area. The ice makers seal dose not hold well and the ice forms all over and every once in a a while you will need to turn of the ice maker and let it unfreeze. Other than that it makes quality ice and no need for a drain. Also the price has increased so much from when I first purchased one to now but that’s the world we live in nowadays. If memory serves me right I bought the first one 8 years ago and I paid like $200-250 now it is $400. In conclusion, I would recommend this ice maker to anyone just be cautious of where you place it.

Great ice maker - but died after 2 years
I searched and searched everywhere for a drain-less, under counter ice maker, and this was the only model I could find. So I bought it and installed in my wet bar. Installation was easy - just used a standard ice maker hose (like you use on a refrigerator) and plug it in to an electrical socket. The first day, it filled up completely within 24 hours. After several months, it is running great. The ice is in half-moon shaped cubes, and is somewhat soft. The compressor kicks on periodically to keep it frozen, but since I have it under the counter, I barely hear it (I don't hear it at all when the TV is on). When full, it holds a decent amount of ice (I'd say about one Igloo Playmate cooler full).I can't believe these are not more popular. I don't understand why all other ice makers have drains - so you make the ice, then slowly watch it melt away. Not efficient and the potential for plumbing/leak issues is high. This little ice maker is simple, easy, and cheap. Highly recommend.UPDATE: Bought in 10/2013, in 05/2016 it died. Started making very loud rattling noises any time the compressor kicked on. I took it apart and reassembled, finding nothing loose. That stopped the rattling for half a day, then it began again. It is something inside the sealed refrigerant system, so I can't repair it. Had to throw it out. Should have figured it would not last long given the price compared to competitors. Ran perfectly up till then, so if you're willing to buy something you know will die 2 years later, buy it. Lowering from 5 to 3 stars due to lifespan.

Biggest purchase disappointment ever
If I can give us a zero I would. I purchased this about five months ago. It started acting up about three weeks to a month ago shutting off not producing ice . When it did get some ice it wouldn’t freeze and the ice would melt then it went dead. Couldn’t turn it on the compressor. Wouldn’t come on so on so forth. Contacting Wynter to get it resolved they told me to take it apart. Check this check that and I wasn’t going to start taking the unit apart . I am not taking anything apart . Then unfortunately,lI didn’t read the reviews prior to purchase, I started reading reviews and found a lot of people have the same problem. They just go dead after a couple months so if you want to spend almost $400 on a piece of crap and then get absolutely no satisfaction from the company purchases this.
