accuracy and quality
I have not used the self-centering dowel jig for a project as of yet . I am still learning how to use it. Its accuracy is very good when drilling holes in the edge of a piece of wood and so far the jig does fit 3/4" to 2x4 pieces of lumber. The self-centering dowel jig does not appear to have the capability to align holes on the flat surface of a piece of wood with the same ease and accuracy as when drilling holes on the edge. The body of the jig is made of heavy steel and the part of the jig containing the centering holes seems to be made of some kind of hardened plastic. Since I will not be using the self-centering dowel jig often it should last many years.

Almost very good. Brighten your center lines!
Quite a good doweling jig. Seems quite accurate. Would be much easier to use if the center lines were marked with a true white for better contrast. Hard to see without a flashlight.

Quality jig
I've used this jig to both dowel and mark the center on white wood, works for my purposes. The vice provides enough clamping pressure to keep my hand drill from sliding. Machining looks well done and no wiggle on mine when it's in place. Though I am a novice wood worker so take that for what it's worth.

Despite surface appearance the quality was disappointing.
When I received this jig it was well packaged and appeared undamaged. The jaws appeared to be tight against the drill guide which is an indication that it’s perfectly centered. As I tried getting the feel of it the first thing that I noticed was that it was screwed down really tight. Now I know that was just covering up what came next. When I opened it up the jaws fanned out like a V, just slop I said. But then as I tightened it back down the jaws only tightened up on one end, leaving 0.100 (measured) of ‘slop’ on the other. I’m not wanting to sand out 1/16" error in my joinery. Without being able to tighten both ends of the clamp the jig will be impossible to control during drilling, which explains some of the other reviews. Ultimately the problem is that the big threaded holes in both aluminum blocks were not drilled square. I went with the high $ unit to avoid this and now I will drop this one off on the way to get the cheap one at Harbor Freight. Online instead of going in the brick and mortar to avoid Covid didn’t work this time.Update: the replacement came in and the problem was fixed. The potential is there but I have taken another approach. I’ll keep it because I need centered holes often and looks like this could be a good tool.

Good
After reading the critical reviews I almost didn’t buy this. It works perfectly. If it’s slightly offcenter (i don’t think so) just pay attention to put it the same way on each board
