I have two young boys who are learning how to play baseball, and catch a ball in general. These sponge balls are perfect for this. They're soft enough not to hurt them if they miss the ball and get hit in the face, but firm enough to give them a feel for a batted ball. If you're kids are just learning, and you are concerned with their readiness to handle a real (or harder) ball, then give these a try.

These are the perfect size & softness for my son who is just starting to catch & hit the ball! Also parents don’t have to worry about getting hurt if the ball comes back to hard. Definitely worth the purchase!

My daughter uses these to practice pitching at the wall in her room. Good travel and no damage to wall or room items when hit. Only downside, I wish they were the size of a 12" softball.

We have a lot of these and use them repeatedly. They can be used for baseball or indoor floor games. The colors are vibrant and don't fade. They are durable unless our dog chews them. Lot of fun and you can hit them pretty far. Perfect for tee ball and coach pitch age kids but still fun for adults too.

My toddler was throwing around an old foul ball we had, which hurt because it was a real baseball, so we knew it was time to get some useful toy balls. These are great because they have the look your kid will appreciate thanks to the painted stitching and logos, along with enough weight to toss it across the room or yard, but soft and light enough that they don't hurt if someone gets beaned or a line drive gets sent back to the pitcher (you). They can really rebound too, so when your kid connects with the ball they won't be met with a disappointing result. We use them indoors and they seem pretty harmless so long as you put away any drinks, picture frames, vases, etc.
