Originally bought the vent in 2015, still going strong!
Original 2015 review: Haven't you always smelled what you cooked an hour ago and wondered if it would be a health concern later on? Now with the range hood, the kitchen air smells not of what was cooked anymore! After having taken several weeks to install the unit, given we had to get several contractors to 1) install electric supply 2) bore a hole into the wall and 3) attach the unit firmly, the unit is up and running and doing well in serving its intended purpose! Now cooking eggs or pan fried food doesn't result in reflexively opening up windows and closing doors.PROS:1) Strong and reasonably quiet motors - This unit does move air, and I ran an anemometer calibrated to the outside opening registering 737 CFMs. I have a slightly smaller duct out given building constraints and was not able to utilize an 8" opening, so I ran an elbow tubing as large as possible before the smaller outgoing duct. Now turning on the vent to the second or third level of power results in continued good air quality in the kitchen.2) Noise level - Not totally silent, but more like an air conditioner in a car turned up to medium high level. This is comfortable sounding, and the frequency is more like a low rumble.3) Sleek and professional look - Stainless steel that is easy to clean. Also the grates underneath the hood look magnificent. May be a little tricky to manuever out for cleaning, but rather have that than falling down easily only your cooking project below4) LED lights add a nice touch, lighting up everything below. Keep your cook top clean too, as it will light all the stains as well that was previously hidden in the dark!CONS:1) Heavy and setup required 3 grown men - Definitely not a one person gig. We didn't do the carjack method either! Instead 3 people did the trick, and long specialized screws were used to make sure it was secure.2) Attached power cord is shorter than expectedThis is the second range hood we have purchased so we knew which factors were important in our decision. We examined all the other offerings on Amazon, and based on the build quality and stats for a higher air flow rating, as well remote control features, this unit was picked for coming out on top. Overall, a good product that does a really good job of maintaining the kitchen air quality without breaking the bank. Setup was the only difficult task, but as a one time process, not something that was unexpected. I would recommend this range hood for those needing stylish look with functionality.UPDATED review in 2022 - It has been about 7 years since original posting and the vent is still going strong! Had to perform maintenance and swapped out the LEDs for updated ones that are brighter as newer LED chips have been released. Also the motors have been lubricated with silicon as they were making some noise. Venting still removes all the heavy smells from cooking meats and oily items, and dishwashing the covers make it easy to clean. Had to perform a deep clean in 2020 and used a steam cleaner to get into the nooks and crannies in the vent after removing the fans for cleaning as well. Great buy given the reliability of the product after all this time.

I love this product
I decided to give it a review after several months of actual usage. I love this product.Pros:1. Very powerful with good CFM numbers. I love to saute very spicy chinese dishes and always use the highest level setting for that. So far so good. No smells just a few feet away from where I cook.2. Relatively quite working condition. Again I use level 4 most often and all I hear is just normal smooth sound you expect a pair of fans pushing airs around. It does not bother me at all.3. Good, professional looking. All stainless steel look.4. Easy to clean. I sometimes wipe it with general kitchen cleaner. I throw all the filters into dishwasher weekly. It is very clean with that routine..Cons:1. Buttons are sensitive. You might accidentally hit some button unintentionally.2. No use for remote. Why not cut the remove and lower the price for maybe another 20?3. Heavy unit not so good for diy installation. In the end, it serves its purpose very well and more than satisfied my needs.

Works well.
The unit works as expected, not as quiet as I would have liked, but I can't tell what's for dinner when I walk in the door. Was easy to install. The only problem I see is with the cleaning, grease gunk does build up on the exterior of the unit and I've not found a way to get it off without scrubbing, which causes scratches. If anyone has this unit and has a way of cleaning without causing scratches, please let me know?

A++ Very Happy with initial quality and operation!!
Based on initial quality and operation, I would give this hood 6 out of 5 stars. Time will tell, but I’m absolutely thrilled with this hood. I’ve had a few different units over the years (including more expensive “BIG BRAND NAMES”), but this unit is much nicer, quieter and sturdier. It definitely takes a little time to install if you don’t have a helper, but the end result it great.I did replace the small screws that came with the unit with larger lag bolts as I’m an advocate of overkill.

Great Hood - poor lighting design. Customer service??
I've had the hood installed for a few weeks now, and it works great. Nice stainless steel shell, good baffle design with grease trap tray in the back. All the baffle parts and grease trap are easily removed (no tools) for cleaning. Two powerful fans and an 8" round duct. The only issue I've had is the light design. The LED bulbs that came with it were pretty bad - way too dim and very blue. So I figured: no big deal - I'll pick up some brighter bulbs. The bulb type is a GU10 base, which has halogen and LED options at the big box stores. I tried 50 watt halogen bulbs and I immediately smelled smoke, and one of them went out. I removed the bulbs and also removed one of the socket assemblies from the hood. The socket had a connector, so it was easy to take out - and I discovered a small resistor (~1 watt rated) in line on one of the wires. This resistor was very much burned out, and the wire broken. The presence of this resistor in a 120 volt wire seems very strange - my guess is that the cheap control board in this thing can't handle switching much power, so the resistor acts like a fuse to protect the board. Nowhere in the manual does it say to only use a low wattage bulb. I contacted Xtreme Air a couple weeks ago, and am still waiting for their reply. I really just want to know what lights I can use, and a replacement socket would be nice. There are LED options that are around 5 or 6 watts, but I don't think that resistor would handle more than 1 watt.I'll update my review once I hear back from Xtreme Air.
