Great balance
I have experience playing a sousaphone and a trombone. When I got my bass trombone, the mouthpieces I would use were either too "trombone" or too "tuba". Sure my embouchure was not as developed, but I would have a mouthpiece for upper register playing and one for lower register playing. This is the first mouthpiece I can say has been the best of both worlds in all regards. I can make it a Tuba mouthpiece or a Trombone mouthpiece as needed, so to speak. I also do not have to make huge adjustments to my embouchure as I'm traversing the pedal scales all the way to upper register scales. It's flexible. It also warms up nicely, and stays warms; the gold-plated cup is wonderful.I have a 830 Xeno, it's a match made in heaven.

Best Bass Trombone Mouthpiece, EVER.
This is one of the best mouthpieces I've every played on. If you play bass trombone, I highly recommend this mouthpiece, it is far superior to a Schilke 60 or Bach 1.Remember, this is a BASS TROMBONE mouthpiece, not a tenor, so don't expect your high range to be great at first, it will take some practice. Also, only get this mouthpiece if you have played bass trombone for at least 2-3 years, it is not for a beginner. If you area beginner, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a Bach 1 1/2, and if possible, get a Mt. Vernon oneThe Mt. Vernon mouthpiece are a little more challenging to get, and you would have to buy it used; usally from a old person or maybe a pawn shop.Overall, this is a fantastic mouthpiece.

I played a Bach 50b Trombone for 10 years, starting to play again. This Mouthpiece is better than any that I have owned, the perfect size.

Best all-around bass trb mouthpiece
Mouthpiece preference is a very personal matter, but I, along with so many others who have tried 100s of mouthpieces over the last few decades, agree that this is one of the all-around best bass trombone mouthpieces. Low range, mid range, and high range is all balanced and the timbre is consistent. It's on the large end of the bass trombone mouthpiece spectrum, but it doesn't feel too large. The gold feels very soft on your lips, and while it might be psychological, I don't seem to get as tired when I play on the Doug Yeo mouthpiece. Lastly, if you don't know Doug Yeo, he is a meticulous person who takes the necessary time and thought in everything he does. So when he put his name on this, I guarantee he made sure it was the best mouthpiece he could get Yamaha to produce for us bass trombonists.
