Thinking of buying another!
We love Plan Toys & the Dancing Alligator: Rainbow Edition does NOT disappoint!A few things to note:1. The rainbow alligator is a LIMITED EDITION toy & Plan Toys does NOT make it anymore! Get it while you can!!2. This particular product is not solid wood. It's made from Planwood which is a COMPOSITE of surplus sawdust from rubber trees, non-formaldehyde glue & organic water based dyes.3. The box has a manufacturer age recommendation of 12m+, probably due to the string & that it works mostly when pulled along by a walking toddler. I think it's fine for a sitting baby to push with their hand. I would just tie the string shorter.4. The product description states "the alligator moves his head and tail up and down making click-clack sound". In fact, it does move its head & tail up & down when pulled, but the click-clack sounds come from the planks that make up its body - NOT the head & tail. (Check YouTube)My LO first saw the [original green] alligator in store around 14 mos. She liked it, but quickly lost interest. I hadn't seen the redesigned green alligator in person, so when we received the rainbow, my initial reaction was, "huh. It seems smaller than the other." My LO (26 mos now), however, LOVED it. Maybe because the redesign looks more like a realistic alligator & the original a 2 dimensional cartoon. Maybe the rainbow colors appealed more to her than just plain green. Maybe because she's older & is highly interested in animals right now. Whatever it may be, she is OBSESSED atm. She runs around the house trailing it behind her. She loves to run in circles around me as I "chase" her with it. She even sits there & makes it dance back & forth. To me, this toy is a MUST OWN. The color association for the rainbow is fantastic. Rainbow or not, the alligator works great for LO's gross motor skills, coordination & pretend play. In my humble opinion, the toy is heirloom quality. I'd love to save it for future children and future generations. May even buy another! Lastly, I'd definitely recommend it to all my friends, family & any parent looking for a pull along toy.

Great toy without lights or sounds
Bought this as a gift for a 12 mo old. I was little concerned after reading other reviews that it no longer has the rubber strip on the wheels to help with traction. While it is true that the snail does not have the rubber strip, it still works just fine. Even on slippery hardwood, the wheels turn and the snail does it's little inchworm motion. I love it, I think it's cute as a button. The baby teedle toddles around with it dragging behind her. It takes a good beating, so far no problems. Her parents like that it is quiet. I opted for the snail over the crocodile for this reason. Though it is also adorable, the crocodile appears to make a clacking noise when it moves. We are very happy with the snail.

Fun pull along toy!
The media could not be loaded. My daughter loves how easy this toy is to pull the colors are very cute and even though my daughter prefers playing with it outside it’s still very durable

One of the best pull toys that I have seen!
While visiting Grandma's house, my 24 month old fell in love with this pull toy after finding it in her grandma's toy box. She seriously probably spent 1/4 of the visit playing with this toy. When it came time to go home, this toy had to be pried away from my little one's grasp. I don't think I've ever seen my daughter so sad.Anyhow, I decided to order one of these for our house. I'm not the type of parent who buys everything my children ask for - but this is one of those toys that I can't object to. Since it arrived in the mail, it has gotten lots of play. I don't think I've ever seen a toddler love a toy as much as my daughter loves this thing. It has a nice long string - unlike many newer pull-toys. (I know it can be a strangulation hazard, but I always keep a very close eye on my little one.) It doesn't tip easy, even when it's turning corners. It glides on the floor nicely. I love how it moves like an inch worm. This has bumped into furniture and hasn't lost any paint yet. It makes a fun clapping sound, which most adults shouldn't find too overbearing. It can withstand a good cleaning after it's been fed mushy graham crackers. My daughter likes it to sit beside her while she looks at books, colors and plays with her other toys. She'd probably take it into her crib with her at night if I let her (which I obviously don't due to the string.)It really is a very fun toy. :)

Cute! A little bit noisy, but not obnoxious. 19-month old loves it!
I bought one of these for my 19-month old son, and one for a friend's son who just turned one. The alligator is the perfect size (not very big, but not too small either), and rolls across carpet easily. The rope/cord that the child uses to "walk" the alligator is long enough to actually let them take it for a walk (some toys have cords that are too short, I'm assuming for safety reasons?). The clacking sound is a bit loud, but not overly obnoxious compared to other noise-making toys. My son will play with this for 5-10 minutes at a time, which is pretty good at his age for this type of toy - he will also come back to it over the course of a day. Because I got this on a super good lightening deal, I also got one for a friend's one-year-old to give him at his 3-year-old brother's birthday party so he wouldn't feel left out - funny thing is, the 3 year old immediately started playing with it, and absolutely loved it! I'm assuming that the one year old enjoyed it also, once his brother gave him a chance with it :)In addition to being fun for the little ones, this toy is good-looking and very sturdy, though if your toddler is in the throwing things stage, you should watch them with this one - it is pretty heavy since it is made out of wood, and could therefore do quite a bit of damage if thrown.
