Worked great
Upgraded the gears in the stock xmaxx servo with these gears. Only took a few minutes, was really easy to do. Makes it way more durable over the stock gears. It turns the 2085 servo into the 2085X servo. And saves you $70 over paying $100 for the 2085x. The gears fit perfectly. No issues to report

Turn the TRX trash servo into acceptable
I really don’t know what Traxxas was thinking when they decided to upgrade the X-Maxx to 8S, add all kinds of reinforcements and upgrades out of the box, offer plenty of “Hop Up” upgrades, and market the X-Maxx 8S as the baddest most bashable and durable RC ever made, then skip the metal gears in favor of plastic gears in the servo for a savings of less than a couple of dollars for every $900 X-Maxx sold. Within 1 hour of buying and driving my brand new X-Maxx the servo crapped out on me with stripped gears. I tried to go back to my local hobby shop, “HobbyTown of Columbus, GA” to ask for a warranty replacement and let them deal with Traxxas seeing as that’s what Traxxas told me to do and I had just spent about $3500 with them. Of course, they acted like I came in with a positive COVID test and offered to fix it for a nominal fee of parts only cost to me. The problem with that is the metal gears are back ordered everywhere including my hobby shop so I’d have to order them myself, buy a different servo, or just wait if I wanted them to fix the problem.I ended up buying a Promodeler servo with horn and mounting kit. That’s what is still in my X-Maxx several months later. However, I did go ahead and place an order for these metal gears and the TRX standard servo mounting bracket. I installed the metal gears in the OE basic servo to replace the plastic ones that are stripped and am keeping it as a backup or for another build. The price of the metal gears is fair enough, I guess. The worst part of these metal gears even being offered is that you’ll head home or where ever to drive your new $1,000+ RC truck and it’ll be useless within a few hours, then you’ll have to figure all of this out yourself because Traxxas isn’t keeping these metal gears in stock locally or on their website, and if you want to send in for Traxxas warranty you may have to send the entire truck (pointless, shipping will be more than the cost of a higher end servo) or get lucky and only have to send the servo in but still have to wait a few weeks for the replacement to arrive. So no matter what you try to do, these metal gears end up being the root of a ton of problems (mostly due to not being readily available or installed from the factory where they should have been). While they work fine, they don’t deserve a high rating due to lack of inclusion in the servos that need them out of the box.

New OEM replacement part.
It's the exact same gears that come in the servo. Nothing to review.

They are holding up
Replaced the gear with these metal ones. We all know how awsome the original gears in a stock xmaxx are. And how they last never! Good cheap way of fixing the servo without spending 100 bucks

stripped on gear twice (two different sets of these gears.
aluminum is a soft metal and one of the gears is aluminum, should be steal. The aluminum gear strips easy. Defeats the purpose of metal gears and extra cost.
