Much better than the military issue nomex gloves
I am an ag pilot, and I've always worn nomex gloves while flying. Problem is, I generally wear out a couple of pair in a season of hard flying. I've never liked the fact that the palm of the glove only has leather, and no nomex underneath between the leather and the skin of my hands. So, I started looking for an alternative this year. I wanted something with very good resistance to heat and flame, but also something with a short cuff, unlike the gauntlet style of the military gloves. I ran across the Mechanix Wear CarbonX gloves and they appeared to have everything I was looking for. So far, they have not dissapointed. They are comfortable, even on hot days. The fit is superb, and the glove appears to be very well made. It remains to be seen how they hold up through the entire flying season, but so far, I am very satisfied!

Great glove for what it’s intended for.
Ive owned a pair if these for about 2 years and I have used them as my primary welding gloves. They’ve been my favorite welding gloves ever. I came here to buy new ones and saw the bad reviews and thought I’d offer an alternate opinion because Ive loved these. Sure they are not leather welding mits, but the gains these offer in terms of dexterity are well worth the slightly less protection compared to leather weld mitts. These are meant for protection against radiant heat and arc flash - like the SFI cert says - expecting a glove designed to protect agsinst radient heat to protect against abbrasion like the other reviewers is silly. Buy the correct glove for your use case. These have real leather palms and the carbon x fabric has stood up well to the welding abuse ive put them through. Pic is after 2 years of welding use, using the left hand as the weld gun support so it gets blasted with heat and red ants.

Withstood Propane Torch Heat
I had to heat a delicate part with a Torch to loosen it and unscrew it by hand. No problems grabbing it with these gloves.

Not worth it
They are ok gloves, don't seem to be made very well. They seem a bit off. I don't think they are worth what I paid for them. These are not $50+ gloves, more like $15-20.

NOPE
Junk. After two days of use, completely disintegrated. Day three had to buy new gloves.

but so far so good. I work in rubber extrusion
I haven't had these long, but so far so good. I work in rubber extrusion. Rubber that's going though hot air ovens at 700 degrees +. The rubber itself is around 400 degrees. I grab this line of rubber after it goes through these ovens, and walk it to another conveyor which then cools it. This step takes on average 1 minute. With these gloves, I can feel heat but it's nothing intolerable. The rubber starts off going though a jet air blower oven that can go up to 900 degrees. I have to be able to thread the rubber through that hot air for a split second to continue onto the other ovens. Again, I can feel the heat but it's nothing intolerable for the short time I'm in that heat. Also the gloves do not catch fire in that jet air. Where other gloves have. So these gloves are working as intended. Allowing me to handle very hot things for short amounts of time, and didn't catch fire. The other thing that I like about these gloves it the dexterity. They aren't overly bulky, and allow me to pick up small objects, press small buttons, and handle tools with them on. It's too soon to tell how durable they really are though. I'm hoping these will last me at least 6 months in my conditions and abuse. I've tried several "heat resistant glove" brands and types. My last pair was from Iron Clad which were quite nice, yet fell apart rather quickly. These do seem to have better stitching and materials, so hopefully they will outlast the Iron Clads. While very good, they aren't perfect. With the gloves on, the velcro can be difficult to undo while trying to take them off quickly. The palm side is also somewhat slippery as well. Though better than many gloves, it doesn't compete with the grip the Iron Clads offered. Over all, I'm satisfied with these. Time will tell if they hold up. Since these are less expensive than the Iron Clad's, I can be more forgiving on that time table.
