Top notch filters.
If I'm to smoke a filter pipe, I reach for a 9mm one as, with these filters, it's a pretty smooth experience. A long time ago, I had a bad view on filter pipes simply from smoking them without filters! Without a filter, that gap will condense moisture badly in the shank. It's not a pleasurable experience. 6mm pipes are better in this regard, but there's really no point to smoking a filter pipe without a filter -Even if it's just a wad of cotton or something.. It can only diminish the experience. I used to make paper filters with a bit of cotton in the center and they were fine. But these vauen ones are great. I don't change them except when they taste bad after a few smokes (just draw in through the empty pipe to check the its taste) and they keep my shank nice and clean. The smoothening out of harsher Va blends is just the icing on the cake. As far as I know, this is the best filter system that currently exists for smoking pipes.

Best 9mm Filters
Most pipe filters don’t work. That’s been my experience. These work well and was a pleasant surprise when one was included in a Vauen LOTR style Churchwarden I purchased. (Fantastic pipes, Auenland series).When I pull out these filters after a bowl, the amount of tar and other residue they trap is quite impressive.I still love my regular pipes but my main daily pipe sessions are now using these filters.Every little bit counts. So less of that crap in my mouth, the better.

Work fine, I'll buy more
These are perfectly good filters for my 9mm pipe. Like all filters, they tend to allow a little more condensation to form in the pipe stem, but that's what pipe cleaners are for.Just make sure to insert them in the pipe stem correctly: the white end goes toward the fire. The end of the filter that’s capped blue is made from plastic, the white-capped end is made from ceramic.

Disappointed
These filters are not the same as the Vauen filters I've had before. These filters have white caps on both ends and they clog up quick. Seems like they irritate my throat too. The good ones that I've gotten before have one blue cap and one white. The blue goes towards your mouth. Those ones work well.

It works but you have to work
Worthwhile to reduce tar and nicotine but can be a pain to use. Quality control is lacking. Approximately 1 out of 5 will not work at all. Best way to tell is to install the filter, draw on the pipe. If you have to suck hard on the pipe to get any air through the pipe, just throw away the new filter. Install another filter. If the draw is easy then finish the installation with the pipe bowl. Mfgr suggests the user replace the filter after each smoke. Best way to increase sales. Normally, the user can get 2-4 pipefulls smoker before the filter needs replacement. The smoker will know when it is time to replace the filter; the smoker will find that they have to suck hard to get any smoke.
