Great for Small Tiered Cakes
These rods are a little wider than I expected them to be, plus they are hollow, so they really have to be pushed down firmly to cut through the cake. They are a bendable plastic that is easy to cut with kitchen shears, so it is easy to get the length you need. You can mark these with food safe markers for cutting, and they do seem to hold tiered cakes well. My only issue with these was that they arrived curved, so I had to try to straighten them before using them and they would not straighten out all the way. They still worked, but they were a little crooked and it took more rods per tier to be sure the cake would not lean during transport. All in all they are not bad, and they work just as well as wood dowels for small cakes, but I would find something else for a really big, or extra heavy, tiered cake.

Good replacement for outdoor solar light stakes
The posts which came with our solar lights were small and never completely supported the weight of the light. These are an excellent replacement.

Perfect for my stacked cakes
If you are making stacked cakes, these are the perfect dowel. Light weight, easy to trim, and reusable.Better price than buying them from Wilton!!

WONDERFUL for WEDDING CAKE
I used these to make my first wedding cake, which was extremely heavy, a 3 tier cake. Each level had 2 layers of cake. So there were 6 cakes stacked on top of one another. This cake consisted of about 20 boxes of cake mix. And then there is all the icing. So you can imagine the weight! I used the wilton cake plate separators for each tier and also these dowel rods. They were AMAZING! Cake was soo sturdy and there was no fear of it fallng over or sinking into one another! I def. recommend this product! :) VERY PLEASED!

Not "rods"!
These are not rods, they are cylinders.And very cheap, thin walled cylinders, at that.A note to the seller. Use a dictionary.Rods are solid; cylinders are hollow down the center and walled.
