Shipping was reasonably fast, item was well packaged.I was on the fence about buying this machine (or one like it, possibly the T4) for many years. I had been using another sharpening system, non motorized, for years with mixed results. Apparently I don't have the steady hands or technique for sharpening with stones although I did get lucky on occasion. Here's where this machine makes the difference: for someone like me who has a difficult time getting a razor sharp working edge consistently, this is the answer.I have been carrying a pocket knife daily since I was 12-14 years old, now in my 40's I feel naked without it. Needless to say it is a tool I use constantly. Then there are all the other hand tools I use commonly both, for work and in my personal life that need an edge.The tormek is the answer for all of those needs. Everyone of my daily carry knives is sharp enough for open surgery, the kitchen knives make such easy work of any and all food prep, and let's be honest, super sharp knives are fun to use, even though I'm not a cook, I could burn soup.It keeps getting better, their system has jigs and tools for putting an edge on (nearly) everything you can think of from gardening tools to woodworking & wood turning, drill bits, and of course kitchen cutlery and pocket knives. I say nearly because there are some limitations, I've yet to see jigs for circular saw blades or chainsaw chains although I wouldn't doubt they're working on those solutions and I will eagerly get in line for those.I thought through my years of practice I had made some sharp knives, but it wasn't until after using this machine I learned the true meaning of "scary sharp". And the best part is, it can be done easily and consistently!There is a learning curve like most anything, but with the reference guides provided and online video media produced by the manufacturer themselves, there are answers for every question.After having this machine for nearly a year, I can personally attest to what so many others have written and said about these machines, my only regret is not buying one sooner.

I have been using a friends for last few months and love it. Easy to use and the wheel and strop turn roughly 900 rpms ‘s - no heat incurred. The tools make it easy to sharpen knives.

Easy to use, it seems well built. I’ve sharpened every knife and chisel that I own plus an axe. I have been contemplating buying one for over a year and finally pulled the trigger, I’m glad I did.

The Tormek T-8 works just as advertised. I am new to precision knife sharpening and was not sure about spending the large amount of money on a sharpening system. But I will say I am glad I did. The Tormek is way better than any other sharpener I have ever had. It is fast and delivers razor sharp edges on just about any blade.

What an amazing sharpener! I really hope my wife never finds out how much it cost. Let me tell you it is well worth the money. After reading the instruction book, which was very easy to read and informative, and a couple of YouTube videos I was off to the races. Even with the first knife, I was able to sharpen it beyond razor sharp. I spent the next three days sharpening every knife in my house the in-laws house and my neighbors. Unfortunately, the only person that hasn’t been cut yet was my mother-in-law because she’s not much of a cook. so be warned get the Band-Aids out.

Thanks to the Tormek my knives and handtools are sharpest they've ever been. Furthermore, sharpening takes less time than using flat stones.For best results I recommend using TormekCalc or similar angle calculation program.
