Great for Face Protection
I live in FL, the biting insects are miserable. I have nothing against deet, but you can't put it on your face (I tried, burned like the dickens). I use this on my face to keep the noseeums and mosquitos at bay, and it works well. A little goes a long way.

The best!
I remember using this stuff when I was a kid and it working wonders, and then my parents couldn't find it in stores anymore and I had to tough it out on my own. I am either VERY attractive to mosquitoes or VERY allergic to them, or likely some combination of the two, because they are a massive issue for me if I even dare to step outside the house in the summer. And then, horror of all horrors, I moved to the SOUTH and started getting absolutely eaten alive, like, bites swelling and running into each other on any exposed parts of my skin. I was reminiscing about this old badger bug balm I used to use as a kid, and my genius wife looked for it on Amazon -- life changing. I was worried when I got it that either the formula would have changed, as often happens with things one has used since childhood, or that it wouldn't work as well as I remembered it in the rosy glow of hindsight. But it works just as well as it always has! It's a bit greasy and sticky, but it's 1,000% worth it to not smack a mosquito every two seconds every time I brave the outdoors, and it feels way better on the skin than most other bug repellents, which are either oily or disturbingly powdery/dry. It smells amazing, and I'm not worried about any of the ingredients either sinking into my skin or being accidentally consumed if I eat while outside or sweat into my eyes or whatever, which is why I don't feel comfortable using DEET-containing sprays on a daily basis. Any bites that make it through I treat with the 2% topical Benadryl gel, and I can survive the summer without avoiding anything that makes summer fun, and without dreading having to mow the lawn. Thank you trusty Badger!P.S., I am slightly concerned that Amazon prompted me to rate the flavor of this product as well as the scent. Please do not eat it. I am giving it five stars for flavor, however, because it's the bug repellent I would choose to eat if I was faced with a buffet of bug repellents and told that i had to eat one of them. It would probably taste like beeswax and rosemary essential oil, if the scent is any indication. It's never occurred to me to taste it, but I can't say I'm not curious now. I will update my review if I decide to do so.

works great if you aren't in some kind of hurry
I'm not gonna lie, it takes a few minutes to actually get this stuff rubbed onto my 2 year old- you have to rub your fingers in it to get it to melt onto them then rub them all over the skin (This process would be far too much work for an adult or anyone bigger than a toddler, in my opinion). BUT!!! It is the ONLY mosquito repellant I have found that WORKS, has no deet, and is safe for my son! Also, the tin is smaller than I expected- I was picturing a palm-sized tin but it's more like a half-dollar-coin sized tin. But I've used it 3-4 times and it doesn't even look like much of it is gone, so I think it will last a while!

Kept the mosquitos from biting, pleasant smell!
Just moved back to East Coast and living on a property that has a river running behind it, so lots of bugs, lots of mosquitos. I have basically always been mosquito bait and had already gotten 4 bites the first night we were in town after only being outside for 15 min. Not a fan of chemicals with two young children, one of whom is special needs, so needed a bug repellent that wasn't deemed a neurotoxin. Just put this on myself and one of my kids last night to go outside and catch lightning bugs at dusk for about 30 minutes. I just rubbed two fingers over the balm and applied around wrists, elbows, knees and ankles and a quick swipe up calves and forearms. By no means were we covered in it and if anything I was afraid I used it too sparingly, was almost terrified to wake up the next morning to see if we had bites. Pleasantly surprised we had not a single one. The bugs still landed on us here and there so they didn't totally avoid us but they didn't bite and that's what counts. I personally didn't mind the smell and found it mild compared to other natural bug repellents. It still smells like citronella so it's obvious that you have on bug stuff but the rosemary balances it nicely and I would say it's a muted scent and I didn't mind wearing it, but again I applied it sparingly. Also, I ordered two different natural bug repellents at the same time and they came in two different boxes, when I opened the other brand's box the smell was almost unbearable and that was before I opened the plastic bag it was contained in. The box with this balm in it was mildly fragrant. I love the fact that this is a balm and not a spray so that I have more control over the application of the product. I accidentally left this in a ziploc bag with my sunscreen in my car all day on a 90 degree day.... I was expecting to see it leaked everywhere and it wasn't, I brought the bag into the house and let the tin cool to room temp without having openend it. I used it a few hours later and it was perfect, I don't think it melted in the heat at all. So far so good with this product, happy to use it on myself and my children thus far.

I wish it worked better. And it attracts flowering insects.
I have a blood type that attracts mosquitoes or flies to me. I have been looking for something organic that will repel or keep them off me. When I found this product I was very happy but it failed to meet my needs. First off with the positives, in my opinion it smells good so I had no problem rubbing it on my skin, unfortunately though bees and other insects enjoy the smell as well. So unless you like bees and other flowering insects chasing you I don’t think its that effective. Even more so, I watched a huge mosquito literally fly into my personal space and try and bite me before I swatted it away (but you only can do so much if you don’t kill it) and it found a place on my arm when I was not paying attention and still got me minutes after applying a huge swath all over my arms and neck…
