Q: can i use it for metal clay

According to Fuseworks, these kilns (regardless of brand) can be used for metal clay, and there are tutorials demonstrating such use. "Great with kiln fired glass paints and Precious Metal Clay (PMC)." If you are worried about the potential sparking that can result from putting metal in a microwave, the kiln prevents that from happening.

Q: What wattage microwave oven works best?

I have an 1100 watt counter top model and it can take 8-10 min. YOu can use lower wattage microwaves but it takes longer to heat the glass enough to melt.

Q: My kiln has a smalk hole in the bottom, just the same size as the hole in the top. Is this normal? Is it okay to cover the hole with kiln paper?

The MWK's I use do not have a hole in the bottom. If yours does, just place a piece of ceramic over it if firing glass. Make sure the ceramic has been coated with kiln wash and use shelf paper.

Q: Do I have to prime this kiln before use? My previous kiln I have to place in the microwave for a couple minutes without anything in it before initial use.

If you're talking about surface prep, you can prime the plate with kiln wash or use kiln paper (never place glass directly on the kiln surface - it will melt onto it and won't come off without a chisel). If you're talking about firing it up for use (warming it up or before the very first use), no, you don't have to pre-fire it. You can use it as is, right from the box. To avoid getting dust on the surface of your beautiful new glass creation, I do recommend blowing any dust off the inside surfaces of your new kiln. Just don't wipe the surface - it can remove the coating or create more dust (and always do this outdoors! don't ever breathe in silica dust!). Happy firing!
