Simple Configuration, works well with Alexa and the Tahoma app.
I use this to control my Somfy blinds.First make sure you can control your device (blinds) with a remote or with the device app.Next download the TaHoma app. Add your devices to the app.Set up your scenes by room, etc.Link your devices to the Alexa app.Go to third party integration in the TaHoma app. Open the Alexa app and allow Alexa to discover your TaHoma devices and scenes. If you add a blind or scene after this step Alexa will add it because you let Alexa access your Tahoma account. You can also add any Alexa supported device like lights, tv’s etc to Alexa. At this point you can control the blinds with the remote, the TaHoma app, or AlexaI did have a problem with one blind. It seems the wireless transmitter is not working on the blind.14 other blinds worked with no problem.I have not used tech support.

Did Not Work At All. Do NOT Buy this junk.
The first issue I had was with the WiFi connectivity to this hub. The Tacoma will only connect to your phone if it is using the 2.4GhZ channel of your wifi router. If you have something like a Mesh network, you do not get to select which channel of your router your phone connects to. If it is connected to the 5GhZ channel, you are out of luck, and will have to hard-wire the hub to your LAN, so hopefully you bought the version of the hub that comes with the dongle for doing so, otherwise you have to buy this as well.. Once you connect to your LAN, you can try to attach your devices (shades, in my case) to the hub using their TaHoma App. I followed the steps in the app precisely, and after spinning for quite some time the app failed to connect to any of the shades, instead stating that an Error had occurred. There is no description of the error, explanation of the error, or explanation of what you can do to get around the error. This is a worthless piece of junk and I am returning it for a full refund.

Better than the wifi version
Better than the wifi enabled wall wart for a third party automation controller. You are able to hardwire this device.

Keep it close to the Blinds during Set-Up
This needs to be near the shades when you program it. I tried it 25 feet away and thought it would work - nope. I moved it to the room of the shades and everything went well. The app is ok but can be touchy to learn. As of Jan 2025 download the TaHoma app on the app store. Dont download the NAmerican one as it wont work. You have to add each shade. If its communicating (TaHoma APP and Shade) your shade will "jog" when setting it up. Be patient. If you have any problems during the install and getting your app running go online to the manufacturers site - somfysystems.com for support. I had to type in my issue, hit submit and about two days later a tech called me and we worked through the issue. Once you master the APP and all shades are "connected" there are some neat functions you can use to schedule your shades. So far I give it Five Stars. App setup and communicating probably 4 stars. After you get everything set up with your hub/shades you can probably move it to a location you want. For some reason the shades need a strong signal from the hub during setup. I moved my hub elsewhere after setup and it worked fine.

Gets the job done after frustrating setup experience.
I recently bought the TaHoma system to manage my RTS shades. While it ultimately met my needs, the setup process was unexpectedly challenging.Initially, I faced issues connecting the TaHoma to my WiFi, likely because it doesn't support 5GHz networks, which my setup included alongside 2.4GHz. I returned the device and opted for an Ethernet-connected model, which I successfully set up after resetting my account to clear the previous hub.Adding devices proved equally troublesome. I repeatedly encountered "The identification of TaHoma equipment failed" errors, possibly due to compatibility issues with my older RTS remote controls. Even after switching to a new remote, the errors persisted. Only after resetting the hub multiple times and restarting the app for each device did I manage to add the devices, albeit with ongoing issues like intermittent "Internet connection failed" messages, which required hub reboots to resolve.Despite these challenges, I eventually added around a dozen devices, really channels on three RTS 5-channel remotes. One channel, in particular, controlling five shades required several attempts and app restarts before it functioned correctly. Adding scenes to control shades throughout the day was straightforward and effective, as was scheduling these actions.Overall, for basic operations, the TaHoma system performed adequately once set up. However, the setup process itself was far more cumbersome and frustrating than anticipated, likely due to bugs in the app or hub. Considering that my experience is with the Android app, it's possible that the iOS version might offer a smoother experience. In summary, while the TaHoma system eventually delivered the functionality I needed, the setup process was unnecessarily lengthy and frustrating, dampening an otherwise satisfactory product experience.

Doesn't work at all, absolute garbage
I went through 2 of these to try and get it to work, but it never even made a connection on either. This is both using an ethernet and a WiFi, tried it with my phone on Android 14 (pixel 7) and using a Samsung Tablet on Android 13, it just won't work or connect. For a device that costs this much, you'd think there'd at least be support but nothing, nada. Waste of my time and effort, let alone money.

Great product and easy to setup.
We just replaced a 15 year old manual awning with a new motorized awning. This addition was a little pricey but considering we just spent over $8,000 for a new 19 ft x 11 ft awning, I guess it was worth it. I’m retired with a techy background so I’m not intimidated by technology. It took about 30 minutes to setup (including new account). It was fast, easy and everything worked the first time. Works great from our iPhones. As of today (there is not an app for the iPad), you’ll need to check if needed).
