we always like the ships best
we always like the ships best. Of all the models, the ships always seem to spark the most attention. Perhaps it is because model ships have been around for a long time. We always love the ships, and i will be repurchasing this one again I am sure.

Do Not Buy Here!!
This difficult frustrating irritating boat is jacked up from the floor up! Forget the fact the details leave out labeling the stand pieces, the numbers on the main deck are backwards which led to having the big end on the short end and vise versa. The instructions for the sails and stringing are nonexistent. The small deck end wasn't cut to required measurement which led to a gap between the two corner railing pieces and the front railing piece on the front port and starboard sides. And they didn't add enough string. With the amount provided, I was able to do six out of eight sails...or I would have if I was provided the proper measurements to cut instead of guestimating which resulted in just under 10" of string wasted sailwise but at least it's enough to do the anchor.Overall this one is excellent if you want to test the farthest limits of your patience but if you got anger problems, I would recommend you STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this one.

Puzzling (can't figure out how to assemble without bending - and then ultimately breaking - pieces)
It is looking pretty good but it is indeed a puzzle (no assembly guide so it wasn't exactly something I could do with my five year old as I had hoped) and the wood cracks too easily yet you have to bend it to get things to go together.

Fun few hours...
This puzzle comes in 3 pop-out boards, paper sails, string and a paper flag. It took roughly 3.5 hours to complete unpainted. I debated between 3 or 4 stars because the pieces are not precise when putting together and they didn't all pop-out by hand. Do to the way the puzzle is constructed, a nine year old will likely need assistance from an adult. With that said, don't let that be a discouragement because the fun factor is pretty high. Before you start, you might want to grab an exacto knife and super glue. There was one piece that was not cut completely pre-cut, and had to use the knife to get it out. As far as the troublesome area, this is when you add the sides to the deck. The deck on each side has 3 protruding areas that slide into a slot. The 2 sides (port and starboard)of the ship, have 3 slots that are suppose to fit the protruding wood but doesn't. They are roughly off by 1-2cm. If you force it like I did, you'll probably have one slot ripple or buckle a little. (I probably should have cut a little piece out instead) If you have trouble getting this together, try working from the center out rather than from one side going across as the instructions indicate.Another small problem area is when you add the trim to the sides of the ship. Since the sides are not precisely cut, the trim will not stay in place and will need to be glued.Overall, I had a lot of fun with this project and would recommend it as long as you don't mind working with the flaws that have been mentioned above. Anyone who is a lover of ships, should enjoy putting this together as much as I did. (now if I can just find a Jolly Roger pirate ship to put together...)

Wooden puzzle - pirate ship
This was a little more challenging for my son to put together. He found that he really didn't have the ability to attach the sails though since they were a little more breakable. He enjoyed it though.

frustrating
loved putting together the wooden puzzles i had found in the past so i decided to give this one a try ..... bought it two separate times thinking the first go round i had misread the instructions.... just tried my second one and it still doesn't work correctly. pieces do not fit accordingly. very poorly crafted don't waste your money
