Hi I am 170 pounds, size 8 in lulu and also have wear an 8 in jet crops. Sizing up pics show tightness still in butt area. Would xl be ok?

I normally wear a medium in most pants (but am also an 8 in lulu), and I sized up to a large in these. I am 5'9" and 150 with a smaller butt and I think that they are still slim fit on me. I would say an XL would be okay if you have a larger butt!

Depending on your pants size..My regular pant size is a 2 and a small fits perfectly.
