This is a very useful connector with a suitable cable length for using with an external 2.5inch HDD or SSD.It allows the fast USB 3 transfer speed, so its good to back up a laptop or games console to an external drive. If you have a smart tv like some Samsung's which allow recording, you can attach an external drive to a usb 3 or 2 socket on the tv and record to it. With 2.5" drives now being up to 2 terrabytes, this little cable connector becomes even more useful for simple plug and play with many modern devices. You could for example store your entire music collection on 1 or more external drives, easily put one in your pocket and just plug it into any usb media player, tv, av amp or even car cd player with usb and you will always have your choice of entertainment with you wherever you are.Obviously it won't work with 3.5" drives as there is not enough juice to power them but for the now ever cheaper 2.5" variety this can be an often used, inexpensive and versatile bit of kit. Everyone who likes modern home entertainment or who backs up their pc's and laptops should have one of these.

Essential tool but has one issue
This is a good quality, high speed tool for working with SSDs and HDDs. Technically it works very well but the one issue that is a real pain is that the power lead from the adapter that plugs into the interface is way too short. It barely reaches the top of a standard desk when the DC adapter is plugged into a power strip on the floor. For a professional grade product this is poor and it should have had a longer cable, e.g. at least 2m. Very frustrating!

Worked very well.
This adapter worked very well with an old Intel 240GB SSD taken from my laptop. No problems at all.

Must have for Linux systems
This SATA to usb adaptor is essiential for those wanting to run TRIM on external SSD's especially on Linux based systems such as Proxmox. The connectivity and speed is excellent, also i think its reasonably priced.

Good quality and fast
A good quality SATA adapter that works well with a Mac. Transfer speeds seem as fast as would be expected. This is very convent for connecting drives from an Atomos video recorder and much cheaper than the official dock. The item was well packaged and the lead is a good length if you have your computer or dock placed on the desk. It would be too short for directly connecting to a desktop.

Really useful, especially for a Raspberry Pi SSD drive
Update Nov 2018I've been using a couple of these at home, and found them very useful and versatile. Perfect for connecting SSDs to a PC for formatting, etc., and work extremely well in combination with cheap 32Gb SATA SSDs with Raspberry Pi 3B and 3B+ computers. They will also power 2.5 SATA hard drives, should you wish to use them.I'm a teacher, and recently acquired for my classroom a complete set of Raspberry Pi 3Bs. I use 20+ of these cables with 32Gb SSDs to provide the working environment for my pupils. These cables *just work*, and make the task of getting the pupils up and running at the start of each lesson really easy.Top recommendation. Great piece of kit. There may be cheaper alternatives on Amazon, but I'm sticking with these for the next classroom I fit out.----Purchased to allow the connection of a cheap 30Gb SSD to a Raspberry Pi 3B, to act as the OS drive for an experimental server. Worked flawlessly, and even can work with a 500Gb 2.5" SATA drive I had kicking around -- powered from the Pi, which in turn was powered by a USB to microUSB cable from a monitor! This, plus a cheap SSD make the Pi an excellent and reliable tool -- I cannot rely on microSD cards for longevity, and USB flash drives, though an acceptable substitute, are not as good as an SSD and one of these cables. Highly recommended.

Easy To Use - Plus TRIM + S.M.A.R.T For Relevant Drives
Not much to say, here, it does what it says on the tin, and unlike some others (KabelDirekt "Pro Series" - B01G3V5ZH2) has the full ability to be the main cable in an operating system running from a USB drive. This is because (and I can confirm) it has the ability to operate fully using TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. functionality on a connected drive.TRIM is something which is good for both security (to a small degree) and somewhat prolonging the lifespan of the drive in operating systems which support it. As it ensures that the right space is available when needed for storage, and keeps the drive's 'blocks' in order, accordingly, within that. That isn't a perfect description, I know, but then, I'm not perfect. ;-)S.M.A.R.T. is potentially *much* more important, as it allows you to ably ensure the health of a connected drive. Without it I wouldn't have had a clue that my main OS drive was dying, recently!
