EXCELLENT PICKUP!
This is an excellent pickup for the price. It arrived next day delivery and I tried it in different spots on my mandolin plugged into a Marshall AS80 acoustic amp using the pre-amp channel. After trying it in several places on the mando top (including under the strings near the tailpiece) I settled for a spot on the top-side (the rim of the mandolin) above the soundhole as it made for a more mellow tone by picking up more from the bass strings in that position. This mandolin is loud but with spruce top and mahogany back & sides produces a very bright sound when played unplugged. I fed the lead from the top-side round the back and taped it down before taking it to an open-mic night where I plugged into a 6-channel mixer feeding into the Marshall amp. The line input on the mixer needed to be set fairly high (still with room for more gain so not at max) and it worked beautifully without any feedback. It produced a natural and clear sound and with the mellow bass boost that I wanted (without "Booming"). I'm really chuffed with this pickup - I'll probably buy another one for a tenor mandolin and octave mando I use, or maybe just switch this one over when I need to. I would highly recommend this pickup; though you need to try it on the instrument you choose for it and definitely move it around the body to find the so-called sweet-spot for yourself. The spot that works really well for me and explained above is NOT one that is generally suggested by the experts. If you buy this it WILL work for you - just be patient, and find the best spot; it may take a little time; the unit is sensitve and needs to sit snugly on the instrument body.

Weird that the lead is attatched to the pickup
if the lead at any point is damaged the entire thing is broken, which is annoying, it really should be detachable. sounds decent though

Impressive little thing
Well, I’ll simply echo the positive reviews on here, this works very nicely. Using on my baritone uke with my Yamaha THR5, it was exactly what I wanted. Nice bit of German engineering. I can’t compare it to anything as it’s the first one I’ve used but I suspected this would be better than than the ones at the lower price range.Attached and working about 5 seconds after I opened the package, picks up the sound really nicely when attached to the bridge.Basically this saved me a lot of money as I was considering buying an electro acoustic just to be able to play with some effects, no need now.4 of the adhesive stickers in the pack, nice length cable and quality connector.

Nice little item
Nice product... I bought this as my acoustic guitar has a really small sound hole, so won't fit a standard magnetic pickup (I didn't really want to modify it anyway as was quite expensive) - for the money I thought I would take a look at this as one of a few alternatives to pickups, it was the cheapest and has good reviews.Overall the sound quality is better than expected, my acoustic sounds great usually and it still has much of its charm through an amp or when recording (I record directly to PC using a Yamaha THR 10 amp). It is much quieter than expected though, so I need to try it on a stage to see if it will feedback at higher volumes or not (It will feedback more than expected if I get the pickup close to the THR even at low volumes - but is fine if you stand away from it).So, for recording ideas it works fine, and for a bit of extra volume (busking or small open mic nights) i'm confident it will be work really well (especially for the money)... for larger pubs/clubs and playing with other people i'm not sure it will hold up, but I will try it (and try to remember to update the feedback here). Works well with my banjo too!In time I will probably look to buy some of the alternatives (under mounted piezo's most likely) just to see how they compare... nut for now, this will work a treat.

I like Schaller products are good quality and robust they have ...
I bought this to use on my Rickenbacker electric 12 string to get a clean woody tone direct into my daw as the amplified signal from the guitars pickups goes through quite a few effects pedals including compressor, fuzz, overdrive, wem copicat etc to the amp. So running it in parallel with the amplified signal allows me to add a little of the guitars natural harmonic quality to the signal. I tried in on the inside of the soundhole but wasn't to impressed, it might be more suited to a larger bodied guitar but on the outside near the bridge i was able to get the sound i had been looking for to accentuate the upper harmonics.. It comes in a pack with a little pot of a type of bluetack, i used my own bluetack instead.. I am going to try this out of various percussion instruments i have to.. I like Schaller products are good quality and robust they have been around since the 50's and have always been there from my first acoustic guitar pickup back in the early 80s to most guitar tuners on all the guitars i have owned.. Buy one soon they are cheap, very useful and i think they are stopping or have stopped supplying with the chrome cover..

Very disappointed it's nasty
Unfortunately this didn't work for me, I plugged it into two separate amps and tried it on two guitars and it didn't pickup anything. It picked up me tapping it but that's all.For £46 I was expecting better packaging too, not a clear plastic bag. No instructions and the jack plug was loose I had to tighten it.I almost feel like it's a fake given all the positive reviews I've read, I find it strange that it is of such poor quality and not working as it should either.I have another pickup half the price and I'm using that now as it works. This one is getting returned☹️

No adhesive putty!
Came without temporary adhesive, very, very disappointed, but don't want to send it back and wait for a new one, just want the adhesive putty!
