Good quality and brightness, emits a nice warm glow
I have a house with a front door and an office 50 metres from the house. I simply wanted a doorbell in both so I could receive my Amazon deliveries.I tried two wireless options but neither worked, as despite having stated ranges of 100m and 300m neither reached more than about 20 metres through a single skin wall. So in the end I purchased a good old fashioned wired system and turned a length of network cable that was already running between the house and office into bell wire.** The Bell Push**This bell push looks and feels expensive with a pleasing textured feel and a good positive action on the button. The illumination is provided by a micro bulb that emits a warm amber glow both around the button and from the sides of the housing at the rear. It is certainly not going to be overlooked by anybody.I am powering it using 8 volts from this Greenbrook DAT01A Bell / Chime Transformer 4/8/12V transformer and it happily operates this buzzer Byron 7201 Wired Wall Mounted Striker Buzzer Door Chime 50 metres away and this chime Byron 772 Wired Wall Mounted Door Chime 10 metres away.Overall the system works excellently, there is no reduction in volume in either the buzzer or chime from running both in parallel and I haven't missed a delivery yet (although I am getting fit sprinting to the front door every time it sounds).

Nicely made, fairly easy to fit and positive action.
I had tried to fit a superficially similar Byron switch for half the price and found the top was loose and the wires tended ot foul the contacts. I bought this Friedland one and whilst it looks more or less the same, it clearly is a better switch and was much eaiser to fit. It glows nicely and is doing its job. Its better made than the old no-name one it replaced (probably from Homebase, I don't remember which lasted at least 10 years) so it should provide many years of service.

Out of darkness
After an abortive search for a new (D70) festoon bulb for my quite-dated Friedland door bell, I decided to cut my losses and plumped for this replacement. As others have commented, the screws on the contact points are a pig to loosen - I had to hold the housing steady with some soft-nosed pliers in my left hand while I exerted some considerable anti-clockwise pressure on the screw heads with the other - and wrapping the pre-existing wires around the points themselves, once exposed, required a delicate and steady touch, but the installation process was otherwise simplicity itself. The position of the screw holes for the light casing was a dead match for the Friedland; the two-tone bell continues to work just fine; and the illumination from the light is just as I had hoped. Can't say much more, really. A good purchase, I reckon, albeit relatively expensive. (This said, research suggests that they cost even more in local hardware stores, so there's no point grumbling.)

Excellent replacement bell push.
Exchanged this from a bell push that had seen better days. Easy to fit and the light is quite bright so no one is going to miss looking for our door bell in future.

Don’t buy
I’ve now bought three of these to replace 10-year-old bell pushes. Every time, the little light has lasted only a week or two (using a genuine Friedland transformer). Then the button starts to stick, so can’t be used and causes the transformer to overheat. Lubrication works for a while but the button sticks in again after a few weeks. Finally, one of them just broke. They are not well made. Eventually thre the whole lot out and replaced the doorbell system with a wireless one

Problems with the device
It works fine, but has its disadvantages. You connect the wiring to the switch which is covered by a transparent casing, then attach the casing to the wall, and finally put on the white cover. One issue is that (as you can see from the photo provided) the cover doesn't fully cover the transparent section so you can see the wiring inside. Weird! The more serious problem is that when you put on the white cover it clicks into place and there seems then no way to remove it, so if something goes wrong you'd have to use force to get at the works, and the device would become unusable as a result.Update: I've now realised that the transparency is in order that the light will come out sideways as well, not really necessary. Let me add that the spec when you get it says it uses 8V. That seems to be the lower limit as it works fine with our 12V supply. Some users have said the bell sounds as soon as you connect the device, rather only when you push the button, so it is no use. That would happen because the light uses a small amount of power all the time (so don't use it on a battery powered system!). With an old fashioned bell, where a magnet pulls a hammer and then releases it, that shouldn't be a problem, but with high tech systems it may be.
