Great book!
I got this for my 15 year old daughter (she’s in 9th grade.) What many parents of teens fail to recognize is that their brain is going through as many changes as it did when they were 2; it’s growing so rapidly and fast- and you mix that with raging hormones and the pressure of just being a teenager (and it’s especially hard right now) you’ll find many tough days and moments where your teen is a challenge to say the least. From emotional outbursts to whining like a five year old to moodiness to secrecy by omission or lying to crying even…. All these waves of emotions and emotional expression are very overwhelming to someone who’s going from little kid to young adult in a short period of time. We need to have more compassion and more patience w our teens and tell them “I screwed up, I yelled / lost my temper and I shouldn’t have said/did _____. I’m sorry. I Hope you can forgive me at some point in time. I’ll work on not doing that again.” <<< that is repair. We need to initiate repair when we screw up / even if it’s having a short attitude and snapping quickly / doesn’t have to be a big blow up. Initiating repair is so important. Anyways, this book has helped my daughter learn some things and work through things. I ask her to randomly pick a number and I go to that page and ask her to work on that lelsson. It’s no miracle book.. but it is helping with challenging her perspective and knowing herself better. I recommend this for any and every parent.

Well Set up- But triggering
I got this book to help my young teen get through the emotionally challenging years ahead of her. I was hoping for more of a self-help style workbook, with more talking and more storytelling inside. This is very much a workbook with questions and answer sections. It is very well done, however there are many triggering guides that are unnecessarily in the workbook as "suggested answers". Well, if your teen doesn't have those thoughts in her head prior to reading the book, then the suggested answers provided will certainly introduce those harmful thoughts into her psyche. For example "I'm too fat to wear this outfit" or "I'm not good enough for him", etc. If she was feeling insecure and inadequate, but didn't quite know why she felt that way- she may read these suggested answers in this book, and then falsely assign blame to these "thoughts" in her head and then begin to feel like these suggestions. Like "Oh, that thought hadn't crossed my mind before. Maybe that's why I feel the way that I do about myself"There is a lot of good CBT work ideas in this book. But, there is definitely some negative work in here that may act as counter intuitive to what we are trying to do with this workbook.

Fantastic Book of Wisdom, Journal Prompts and Activations!
There's a lot of power in these pages! I loved how empowering and supportive the tone of the book was. The author gives great advice and also gives a lot of opportunity to work through emotions in journaling fashion, with multiple questions that build on each other. I think anyone could grow more calm and peaceful through this book.
