Bought this ink to stop my daughter complaining about the cost of replacement cartridges. I filled an empty 540XL cartridge with just under 20ml of ink, fitted and 'voila'...perfect prints and loads of ink left for future fills. The cost savings are very well worthwhile so it's a bit of a no brainer.

I wish I'd had learned how to refill an ink cartridge years ago! It saves so much money and these two bottles last ages!For first timers:Some printing cartridges already have holes in them which you can find underneath the label (sticker) on the cartridge.If you are going to refill the cartridge, it's important to know that there is a sponge inside of the cartridge that you inject the ink into so that the sponge can absorb the ink. When you attempt to insert the syringe (purchased separately), you will feel a bit of resistance from the sponge. You don't need a lot of ink because the sponge can only absorb so much. Just remember to take your time in order to avoid unnecessary mess.

There is a chip in the ink cartridge. Once empty the printer tells the chip it's empty, without resetting it your printer continually tells you it's a counterfeit cartridge. Only solution I've found is to install the cartridge and then switch off and unplug the printer. Power it back up and it forgets, for a while. Also, we refilled four cartridges and only one appears to now work, even using the above technique. Ink doesn't seem to flow as it did with originals. Remove and suck and it works for a bit. Ink itself seems OK
