Thought-provoking, gutsy, and at times hilarious
I have enjoyed all her previous books. She writes from the heart unafraid to see through the shammery of life; the idiocy of political figures; the meaningless rules spat out to control us. She invites us to share the sheer beauty of wild flowers and birdsong; to appreciate the things that really matter. Bravo Sheila. Here's to your next decade and your next book.

Only if you can stand her raving about Brexit
Sheila Hancock comes over as witty, worldly-wise, theatrical, professional and much more. The book opens well with some cracking stories and I settled down for what I thought would be a really good read. But she spoils it with several pages raging about Brexit. She is not in favour of it. She's entitled to her opinion. But I don't want to read about contentious politics; I don't find it interesting or enlightening. If there's much more of it I'll ask Amazon if I can return the book and get a refund.

catch-up
As one of many who found cathartic comfort in Sheila’s book Just the Two of Us, this is another incredibly honest and heartfelt read. The world has changed (and still is changing!) so rapidly over the last few decade but Sheila’s “Old Rage” is a steadfastly honest piece of writing. She covers everything in old age from the loneliness and aches and pains to rage at the body that once did so much but now can’t, and the strange society that we’re all making our way through. She writes so fantastically about the joint rage against and love of humanity that’s needed to survive the world in which we live. Just an honest beautiful read and one I know I’ll return to again and again.

Old rage
I really wanted to like this book as I like Sheila Hancock but unfortunately all the whinging about the government and brexit spoiled it for me. Good in parts and I liked the bits about her personnel life. Ended up skipping the parts about politics, we hear enough about that daily.

Excellent read
A lot of thought has gone into this book. I feel like it is a representation of how a lot of people felt during lock down and the disastrous Brexit. I wish Shiela would have been an MP she would have certainty got my vote! Have recommended her book to family and friends. Sad to finish it it has left me uplifted.

Can’t argue with any beautifully written word.
As Sheila expresses so well almost everything I think and feel I want to say ‘thank you’ to her for writing this book for me. I frequently rage as she does and it’s reassuring to know I’m not alone.

Excellent part memoir part diary
I love the honesty of this book, the way Sheila Hancock writes so transparently about the political climate and those subjects like Brexit (such a stupid policy that's wrecked so many lives), which we're told not to talk about. Talking about the ugly rise of right wing populism in today's world, needs to be done and it comes best from someone who has the age, wisdom and worldliness to match. I love the way Sheila Hancock describes Nigel Farage as "Guffawing" which is exactly the way I see him. I went and bought her film "Edie" which is inspirational to anyone of any age. Great writer and a great actress.

Should be read by everyone
I suspect that this book will largely be read by older readers (myself included) - but that would be a pity.It is full of common sense observations about life that are relevant to all of us.Sheila Hancock knows how to write - her previous books have already established this - and here we have notes on the challenges of the last few years , presented with great humour, honesty and frankness that is sometimes disarming.Yes, growing older is an important, central feature of the book, but after all, bearing in mind the age of the author, that is not surprising. However, here we are constantly reminded that age (hopefully) bring with it wisdom and understanding. Qualities that this book possesses in spades!I am a Sheila Hancock fan, and I am happy to admit that, but I believe that if I had read this book "blind" without knowing the identity of the author, I would have found it equally compelling.A natural story-teller, a sharer of experiences - I laughed a lot, and cried a bit as well.
