Good product
Really happy with the performance and price. Only needed to extend about 100 feet so I am not sure how far the signal will stay strong. 100 feet out and the signal is fantastic. It is a little tedious setting it up but not bad.

The main thing you need to know
I have my main home wifi router, but use 2 EAP 225 outdoor to cover the sides/back yard.If your usage is like mine and you just want to have wifi in more places than just your main home wifi then, and let me stop to say this took 10 hours of trouble shooting to figure out (so easy it should be in big bold letters on the box/manual) here we go... Are you ready??? OK, plug your EAP 225 into your main wifi router and set the wifi name and password on your EAP 225 with the same name/password as the main wifi router you're plugging into. That's it! Don't make this hard like I did...If your router doesn't have an extra "out port" to plug your cat 5 or cat 6 plug into then continue reading below...If your fiber modem or cable modem to wifi router or wifi modem/router combo continue reading below.Additional reading from my 10 hour trouble shooting... Going the route I did of all my wifi routers name/password being the same prevents issues with the "handshakes" back and fourth when you go from being on your home wifi to then connecting to your EAP 225 wifi or in my case EAP #2, or #3, #4 etc...Your internet provider assigns a DHCP number to your modem and then your wifi router gives each device (phone/computer) an IP Address. Your phone/computer has what is called a Mac Address that is unique to that phone/computer so the network knows ok that's the phone that was connected earlier and maybe you've assigned it "priority" roles to your phone for faster speed so the MAC ID helps it recognize that specific device on your network...If you don't have an "out port" on your wifi router for cat5 or cat6 cable then you'll need to get a switch port (think they make smaller 4 or 6 port switches). This swtch will plug into your modem and your home wifi router plugs into port 1 of the switch, and your POE adapter/EAP 225 will plug into port 2 of the switch.Modem/Router combo's generally have at least 1 out port. Plug your POE Adapter/EAP 225 into that port. If you need more ports than the one on the back of the modem/router combo then you'll need to buy a switch.If your trying to make each wifi have different passwords then you'll need to have DHCP rights from your modem which a lot of IP Providers don't grant in the consumer internet packages.

It's okay.
Setup is a little clunky and I question the advertised range because I haven't seen it function well at even 400ft having direct line of sight but it works. If there's any obstructions between your device and this AP, forget about getting connectivity.

It burns and smokes!
I purchased this AP a few years ago, it had been working "fine" and presented zero issues. A bit slow- which I found odd considering my line was feeding 1GB of speed- however I bypassed the speed and relied on the ease of use. Suddenly I noticed it stopped working, upon inspecting the device I noticed a strong odor and realized it had burned! Beyond crazy as I know it was device related. My other APs have been fine and present zero issues, versus this guy potentially presenting a fire hazard. I was using this with a regular Omada POE switch, so certainly not related to anything else other than this device. What makes things worst is TP-Link originally stated they'd replace, but then ended up backing off. I find that pretty upsetting as they knew I was outside of warranty but still originally offered to replace, but then went back on their word.

A++ Customer Service!
I've purchased a million items on Amazon (like everyone else), but I've never written a review...until now.I'd consider myself to have only 'slightly above average' tech savvy, but I have ZERO experience with setting up a mesh network, so I was hoping that I wouldn't quickly get over my head for this project. My goal was to extend our home internet to our new barn just over 100 yards from the main house (with line-of-sight). Per Customer Service's (Mira) recommendation, I purchased two EAP-225-Outdoor units and the OC-200 Controller to accomplish this goal. Figured it was worth $240 or so to see if this would work...The included instructions aren't super intuitive, but they are adequate in describing how to update the firmware on the devices (read from others that that step was important) and to physically connect the hardware (which is pretty easy). For the hardware setup, the OC-200 requires a power supply (either a POE adapter or micro-USB cable - neither included, but we had plenty of micro-USB to USB cables laying around, so that's what I used) and a LAN cable into your existing router. The "Master" EAP-225 (at the house) requires a power supply (included POE adapter) and a LAN cable to your existing router. The "Slave" EAP-225 (at the barn) requires only the included POE adapter. That setup was pretty easy.At that point, rather than fumble through their app or website to attempt to configure the software, I decided just to call Customer Service and have them walk me through the steps so that I didn't irreversibly screw it up. And wow, what a great decision! After only a couple minutes of waiting, I got Mira on the line and she patiently walked me step-by-painful-step through the process for almost a 1/2 hour and by the end of the call, I had a FULL internet signal throughout my barn! She speaks great English and has an impressive command of exactly how to do this...and tailors her instruction to whatever your level of comfort/understanding of this fairly technical process.Of note, you can accomplish this same goal for about $100 less if you use their free software controller (versus the OC-200), but since the OC-200 is made for this job and continuously monitors the network, I elected to bite the bullet and get that hardware as well.Overall, merely based on such great Customer Service, I'd highly recommend this/these products!
