Perfect for computer repair, has a very precise solder head
That's the best soldering station I ever saw compared to the ones found in brick & mortar shops. The ones found in physical stores are too thick and can't manage micro-electronics (not high enough temperature, needs 400°C or more). With this one I can choose the temperature as I see fit up to 450°C (842°F) and it takes only a few seconds to reach this temperature.I don't use its "holding arms" accessory but it's still very nice to have just incase (the metal arms that hold the parts in place for you, left & right arms). However one thing I noted is that the soldering iron unexpectedly shuts down if I move it a little, even gently while the solder wire holder is plugged-in.I had to remove the solder wire holder (removable accessory) and I was afterwards able to move the soldering station without having it unexpectedly shutdown. So if you're having unexpected shutdown issues, this might be the problem; the solder-wire holder accessory, try removing it.Other than that, it's the best ever soldering station I saw. Other ones cost considerably higher prices for a similar temperature changer functionality.I also modified it on my hand by cutting the US power outlet plug and replacing it with an EU power plug, which worked flawlessly (it supports 240V electrical current as well).

Nice compact soldering station
I've been using a Yihua 908D for years now. I'm a hobbyist that enjoys playing with MCUs and related circuitry builds. The 908D has served me well for this purpose. However, I was looking to step things up with a "station" that has a sleep mode since I do soldering work at my desk and can get sidetracked by real work and life in general. The easily changeable cartridges was also a feature that interested me. The 982-III fit my needs perfectly. This station is nice and compact, making it perfect for situations where "workbench" surface availability is at a premium. I also don't need some of the advanced features more expensive stations offer such as memory and perfect temperature regulation. I just need an iron that works for what I need to do, when I want it to.After spending a few days using the 982-III to solder some "kits" to test and get used to it, I'm more than pleased with the capability of this station. Sure, it may take a few extra seconds to heat up than claimed in the product sales literature, but that doesn't bother me as a hobbyist. I'm setting similar temps as when I was using my 908D and getting the same or better performance. I chose to opt for the C245 handle for the increased mass in the cartridge so I can push the iron a bit when/if needed. Haven't run into an issue where the cartridge can't keep up, even when using a smaller cartridge than I should since I didn't want to change out tips (more on this in a sec). Overall, I have no complaints on the performance of this unit and appreciate the upgraded features it offers over my previous iron.My only complaint is with the C245 handle. It requires unnecessary force to insert a cartridge (initially had the "element not found" error, until I read a review that said to basically force the cartridge in to seat it properly). Removing the tip with one hand is not possible (as in the "cartridge quick change" feature). I actually have to wait a bit for the iron to cool off and use two hands to remove a cartridge. I have contacted Yihua regarding this issue requesting feedback. If the response is not satisfactory, I will update my review and search for a replacement C245 handle (if it gets to this point it may be more cost effective to opt for a slightly more expensive solution, but I appreciate the form factor of this station for my needs).

Good buy for hobby soldering
Have had this for a little over 10mths, can turn it on and be ready to solder within a minute. Have repaired 4 or 5 controllers, soldered some automotive connectors into the wiring harness and soldered a new radio wiring harness together, have used some tip tin cleaner after every use to keep it from oxidizing, my only gripe is it comes with two sharp pencil tips and only one curved one, the curved one is definitely more helpful to me for my projects but that's a personal preference. Can get replacements eventually for around $15-$20

Great solder station.
Nicest soldering station I’ve owned. The tips seem nice and can easily be removed and attached without having to cool down the iron and unscrew a tip.

Worked as advertised
I used it only once for a small soldering project to share a long term honest user review. Though, It worked as advertised, I was disappointed it did not come with the solder shown in the photo. I had to stop by Home Depot to purchase a roll of solder.

Doesn’t Work
It won’t heat up, saying “heating element not detected”. I double checked all the connections. The manual just said that this means a sensor is faulty so I notified Amazon and they sent me a new one with the exact same issue. Now I have 2 stations that don’t work at all. Customer service for this company is also a joke. Don’t buy this.

Nicest soldering station I have used
"Heating Element Not Detected"? push harder to seat the tip. I had to push hard enough I was concerned about doing damage to it. But it finally seated properly. This soldering station is so much nicer than the one I used for NASA high reliability soldering when I was in the military. OK that was back in the 1970s and I am sure they have much nicer ones now than the ones I used back then. But I really like this one.It heats up really fast and as soon as you put the wand into the stand it goes down to its "sleep" temp. This will make the tips last much longer. As soon as you pull it back out of the stand it heats right back up.YIHUA has nicer stations than this, but for the price this one is hard to beat. I recommend it.
