What is the difference between this and the Extract Powder? Which is more potent?

Thank you very much for contacting Sayan Health.  Many customers asked us about the difference between raw chaga and chaga extract. We should start by saying that raw chaga should not be consumed. Chaga, like most other mushrooms cannot be digested by the human body in its raw form. The mycochitin composition of mushroom cell walls, as opposed to cellulose walls of plant cells, is difficult for humans to digest. Our stomachs resent indigestible items, and often forcibly reject them without further ado. The brewing process helps break down fungal cell walls, rendering mushroom flesh not only more readily digestible, but also releasing significant nutritional value contained within the cells.So in order to get health benefits from raw chaga it needs to be brewed or you could use water soluble extract powder.Here are major differences between these two products: raw chaga is not water soluble and you need to brew it. Whereas extract can be dissolved in any liquid and it is much more potent.Our chaga extract produced by water extraction with subsequent sublimation freeze drying. The extraction rate is 16%, which means for every 1 kg of raw chaga, we produce 160 grams of extract. In other words, we process 6.25 lbs of raw chaga to produce 1 lb of chaga extract powder.

Question 2

Do you remove the chaga chunk before drinking? Or do you use an infuser? Does it need sifted to get any particles out or are small debris ok to drink?

We recommenced use infuser to brew chaga chunks. It would be better to remove chaga chunks along with small debris from the glass before drinking the tea because raw chaga won't provide any health benefits to you. Raw chaga needs to be brewed, and it is the actual tea which provides those health benefits.

Why is this so expensive for only 1 kilo? you can purchase 20 kilos of siberian chaga for $200. so why are you charging people almost $100 per kilo?

Not sure where you are getting the price of $200 for 20 kg of Siberian chaga. But as you know you are getting what you paid for. We offer premium quality product which wild harvested, inspected and properly dried to less than 14% humidity. It is done at FDA registered facility in compliance with GMP regulations. Labeled and packaged with compliance to FDA regulations. If you want some cheap product which was harvested by people with low or no experience you can definitely find it elsewhere.

So is siberian chaga grown and processed in north america?

Siberian Chaga growth on the birch trees in Siberia, not North America.  Sayan Chaga mushroom is harvested in Siberia and prepared at our facility in Russia, after that it is imported and packaged at our facility in the USA. Both facilities are registered with the FDA and comply with all GMPs requirements.
