Sturdy unit that works well, may need to fix some small issues
I purchased the Xarilk GEN2 because I liked the clamp better. I got it today and a couple of things were messed up that some folks would be put off by. I was initially. The clamp for the jaw could not be operated because the threads in the jaw for the tightening screw were full of powder coat. I was able to run the bolt from both sides and clean up the threads. The other issue was, angle adjustment would not work at all, as one of the arms was not connected at the bottom and it jammed the unit. I was able to take that arm off and put it back the way it should have been.So how does it work? Very well for the most part especially on my medium to large folders. When sharpening a smaller japanese paring knife that had a less than 15dps edge I could not get the arm level as the post was as low as it could go. After some messing around I got it as close as I could and it came out fine. About the change in angle when changing sides, I did notice that and just compensated by releveling, not really a big deal for me. Also it was more pronounced on thicker blades. The effect was barely noticeable on a thin chefs knife and more pronounced on the Gerber Parabellum which has a thick blade. Not sure why that would be. The diamond stones that were supplied seem to cut well, although the provided 2000 seems coarser than an aftermarket 1500 that I bought, by quite a bit.Overall:QC needs help, but it was the last one in stock at $80.00 discounted.Works well enough for me. Small knives 2" or less are probably an issue, however I have not tried yet. On a 10" Chefs knife it is hard to keep a consistent angle from tip to ricasso, due to blade flex at the tip, I think. On tall the knives it definitely produces a keen edge, as it did on the chefs knife after supporting the tip with my fingers. The unit was much smoother to operate once I cleaned the shaft that holds the stone and applied wax to it.Price is good for what you get, but if you are not mechanically inclined the QC issues would be quite frustrating, I almost returned it until I took a breath and re-evaluated the situation.

The materials used feel durable and high-quality, giving me confidence in its longevity.**Ease of Use:**This sharpener is incredibly user-friendly. With clear instructions, I was able to start sharpening my knives right out of the box. The two-stage sharpening system—coarse and fine—catered to both my dullest knives and those that simply needed a touch-up. The coarse slot quickly restored the edge of my older knives, while the fine slot provided a polished finish that made them feel almost brand new. It’s straightforward enough for beginners, yet effective enough for seasoned chefs.**Performance:**The performance of the Xarilk Knife Sharpener was impressive. I tried it on various types of kitchen knives, including chef's knives and paring knives, and it delivered excellent results across the board. The blades became razor-sharp in no time, allowing for more precise cuts and enhanced control while chopping. I also appreciated how quickly I could sharpen multiple knives, making it a valuable tool for meal prep.**Cleaning and Maintenance:**Another highlight is its ease of cleaning. The design minimizes dust and debris buildup, and a simple wipe with a damp cloth was all it took to keep it in good condition. I also value that it doesn’t require any complicated maintenance—just occasional checking of the sharpeners themselves.**Safety Features:**Safety is paramount when working with sharp tools, and the Xarilk does not skimp on this aspect. The non-slip base and ergonomic handle not only make it easier to operate but also help prevent accidents while sharpening.**Conclusion:**Overall, I highly recommend the Xarilk Knife Sharpener for anyone looking to maintain their kitchen tools effectively. It’s a user-friendly, efficient, and durable option that delivers impressive results. With this sharpener in hand, you can return your knives to their optimal state, making your food preparation safer and more enjoyable. Upgraded XARILK Professional Knife Sharpening System GEN2......this thing sucks
This thing is a cheap piece of crap. The clamp won't hold the blade in place. The blade turns in the jaws when you try to sharpen tip and moves back into the clamp when you sharpen the rest, changing the angle of the rod. If you put the rubber pads on the jaws there isn't enough room for the knife. Oh yeah, the jaws are not hinged, you have to use lock screw to bend them closed. The screw that holds the clamp shut won't stay tight. Tried to sharpen one knife, used the 320 grit, it barely worked. Took over an hour just to get a working edge with the coarse stone then gave up. The way the stone sits in the holder will scratch the blade if you are not careful. Its real easy to over travel to the end when pushing the stone forward, and since the plate sits higher than the holding clamp, the exposed corner of the stone will dig into the blade. Don't waste your time or money on this. The guy in the video makes it look easy, but he is sharpening a cheap POS Huusk made in China out of used car bumpers.
