The Serum

I am a facial serum convert! I didn't use them until I was middle-aged, but now I'm a regular serum fiend. This is my first Augustinus Bader serum, and I have to say I was enamored when I opened the box. It's an absolutely stunning presentation, and the way it looks on my vanity table is just elegant! I love making sure it's in the background of photos and things because the packaging itself is just so sophisticated.I've only used the serum for a couple of weeks, but I can say in that time I've been very happy with how my skin looks. I have sensitive, mature skin that tends toward dryness and sometimes even acne. So it's complicated to meet my needs. This serum has not aggravated any of those conditions. It absorbs quickly, and lasts a long time - my skin still feels moisturized and enriched at the end of the day. I'll concede that this is not a low cost product, but the ability to get refills and to use up every drop are both mitigating advantages. And a little does go a long way, so each vial will last a long time. If you're looking to spoil yourself, this serum is a fantastic splurge!

Augustinus Bader The Serum is a luxury facial serum that uses TCF8 - stated as a proprietary blend of amino acids, high-grade vitamins, and synthesized molecules. It encourages cell turnover and collagen production, hydrates, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, evens out skin tone, reduces hyperpigmentation, improves texture, soothes, reduces inflammation, clears skin, and improves elasticity and firmness. In short, everything my 51 year-old skin desperately needs.The set comes beautifully packaged and includes the base, the nomad, and the refill. The base is heavy and gorgeous. It’s made of glass and it houses the nomad/refill combo. The nomad is a gold metal tube that holds the refill. It has a cap on it and can be removed from the base to make it easy to travel with. The serum/refill is in a plastic pump-style bottle that contains one ounce of serum. It expires 9 months after opening. It’s milky and thin and quickly absorbs into my skin. Thankfully, it’s unscented as I tend to get migraines with added fragrance. I apply it at night after cleansing and toning and add a night cream on top for moisture.Their results were seen after 12 weeks so I’d be lying if I said I could see them now so soon after receiving the serum. But the results are real and the TCF8 blend looks promising. I am confident that with consistent, regular use I will see younger-looking, brighter, clearer, and plumper skin.This is a high-end skincare line and the price reflects that. But if money is no object and you are looking for a renowned, trusted brand with innovative and proven products, this one is for you.

Despite having heard Augustinus Bader mentioned in skincare forums, I was previously not quite familiar with the brand, and certainly not aware of how high end it is. The Serum did leave me with a positive impression, but I simply cannot get past the cost. Of course, if this is something you can afford to regularly use, by all means go for it! It's just not realistic for my current lifestyle.Opening the carefully curated packaging was an experience unto itself. I did not realize the base was coming with the serum, so I was quite surprised! I do appreciate how much thought they've put into the design, as well as the serum's formula. The base is made of a beautiful, weighty, blue glass with touches of gold. I love that the brand encourages recycling to the extent they do, as almost every part of this set can be reused or recycled (or refilled, of course.)The Serum itself seems to have been expertly formulated to be a true all-in-one serum. Fine lines, ageing skin, dehydration, redness, uneven tone, you name it- this serum contains ingredients working synergistically to help fix the problem. It nourishes, hydrates, helps protect from environmental damage, provides pollution protection, and just overall contains ingredients that can lead to a healthy complexion.The consistency is thin but not watery. It's between the consistency of a milky toner and a serum, in my opinion. I love that it is unscented, that fact alone gets a huge plus from me. The Serum glides on effortlessly and soaks in quickly, leaving behind no sticky/tacky or oily traces. It does work really well with my moisturizer and other PM products, but I have yet to use it in my AM routine or with makeup. Nonetheless, no pilling or anything with my other products.I definitely do lean more sensitive, my skin type is combo leaning dehydrated, and I'm 36 years old. I do have type 1 rosacea, so the areas it affects (cheeks and nose) are more sensitive than the rest of my face. When ordering this, I did not realize it contained vitamin C, which is an ingredient I can sometimes not handle. Just wanted to throw that in so folks are aware.Every issue this claims to help is one I have, pretty much. I have not been using this long enough to see amazing results. However, I can say that it did not cause any irritation. The vitamin C is the only ingredient I'm a bit concerned about, so I'm taking it slow. Spot tests went fine, so I tried it on my whole face and that went well too. I love how hydrating this is and how nice it makes my skin feel. It's very nourishing.I did feel like my skin looked a bit more glowy that next morning, too. I will definitely continue using this, however, no matter how well it works, it's just not something I could afford to purchase- and that's okay! I hope the review is helpful for those that can.

The presentation of this is truly next level. A bit over the top? Yes, but it puts even my nicest product to shame on my shelf. Then the serum itself is super light weight and glides on with only a pump or two, maybe three if hitting chest too. It doesn't really have a scent and no added fragrances either.The immediate effects are redness reduction, moisture and a super silky smooth feel. Long-term this does seem to help give a glow that stands out from what I was doing before. Other people have started to ask about my skincare regiment for the first time in my life. Coincidentally around the same time I started using this and other AB products.There's a reason you will find this on your favorite celebrities shelf. Pricey? Yes. The results absolutely speak for themselves.
