Works well handle was sturdy.

I love this case, it is nice how they include a handle and wheels so it is easy to move around similar to a suitcase. Fits all my pistols from compact to full sized. I would recommend this case to anyone.

I bought this case specifically for range day, I expected excellent quality being a pelican case. Well I was completely wrong. Poor quality control. Going to return it and will look elsewhere.

The description says this will fit compact and full-size pistols with red dots. I have a Glock 47 with a Trijicon SRS and two Smith & Wesson shield plus one with Holosun and one with a Veridian red dot.None of them seat firm/ snug.The Vault will not close when the Glock 47 with the Trijicon in the casePelican needs to add dimensions for what will fit in the case rather than just saying full size pistol with red dot will fit

I already own a Harbor Freight 5800 case for AV gear and was thinking of buying another. Then I came across this deal on this Pelican Vault 525 Case. At first glance it was, not surprisingly, far more expensive than the HF 5800. Then I looked closer at the foam insert. This is a customized insert to carry 7 pistols safely and securely. This too is something I can use, just not very often. I took a chance that I could probably use this when not carrying pistols for carrying my video podcast gear. I got it a couple of days later which was great and opening it up I quickly discovered that the foam insert is not glued in and comes out as one piece. Yeah!I also compared it to the HF 5800. See the pictures. They are almost identical in size inside and out and overall are direct competitors. The front latches are both easy to use with the 525 latches using a push button then flip up movement creating a quiet and smooth unlatching mechanism that is simply sweet. The HF has the typical friction latch that you pull and lift to unlatch. While this works well, it can be a little noisy opening and closing and requires more pull to unlatch. Not an issue just different. The 525 weight was noticeably lighter and when I put them on the scale with only the lid foam installed the HF 5800 came out at 13.8 lbs and the Pelican 525 weighed 10.4. Almost 3 and a half pounds lighter.For traveling, their outside measurements are almost identical and I suspect neither has the advantage for putting in overhead compartments. The extending handles are of an identical style however the 525 seems more substantial and locks more firmly in place when extended. This same firmness however makes it considerably more difficult to lower and impossible to do one handed. The HF is easier to lower but it too requires the use of 2 hands but with less strength required. Wheels on the 525 are clearly the winner. Both have bearings but the 525 spin by hand super easy while the HF makes only about 2 rotations and stops when using the same amount of force to spin them.Lastly, using left over pieces from putting foam inserts into toolbox drawers I built up my own inserts for the video equipment. 2 sheets of 2” foam and 2 sheets of 1 inch foam fit perfectly height wise. Now I have one single case that can do double duty. The HF case will be used for extra gear and cables. I really did not like the pull apart soft foam that came with the HF 5800. While it was easy to peal out it ended up being too flimsy and I am already designing better padding for storage in that case also.
