I have looked for a long time for a couple of radios that would be easy to use and actually work as described. I bought a set of two radios and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. They were very well packaged and protected in shipping. I charged the radios and had need of them right away due to hurricane Harvey. We evacuated the Houston area in two cars and we used the radios instead of the cell phone. The sound was clear and the radios held a charge during our trip. We found we could get 2-3 miles of distance on a straight road without interference. My friend was so impressed with these two radios he just bought a set for himself. I bought a second set so we would have a second set of batteries. The price of these radios are cheap, so cheap you can get new radios for the price of two spare batteries. I do not know how long these batteries will last but I do know I have back up batteries if we need them and spare radios if something was not working. If you can accept a 2-3 mile range they are worth buying.

Ease of use…easy to understand.If you want to program this it’s a matter of preference and what you want to get out of it.But for me, I’ll stay with FRS for now. 😂🤣.So I just got this today, tested out distance right away. Distance was a bit descent with buildings and lots of trees and foliage all around Kirkland area totaled to about 2100-2400 feet (a bit noisy around this edge). Otherwise, the sound quality were almost perfect anything less than 1500’ (even with lots of trees and being the other receiver were inside an apartment building).The built of the Radio shows quality.

The sound quality is good till you hit 50ft I tried using them for airsoft tournament and you just couldn’t make out what the other person was trying to say even if you put the plugs in with them it’s still hard to hear what the other person is trying to say, over all for the price there alright the battery does last awhile other than that they are ok.

Disappointed with these radios because I bought them for the voice scrambler feature and I can't activate it. I understand that it's not full encryption but rather an inversion or "beat shift" process, but that's ok to minimize casual eavesdropping.I downloaded the Luiton software (R8) but the radios won't connect despite trying 2 known good programming cables. I tried CHIRP software and the radios connected, which is something, but there appears to be no way of activating the scrambler. I tried Baofeng's BF-480 software, but switching beat shift on and off had no effect.Maybe I'm missing something here but I did message Luiton and the seller for help and got no response from either.I have given 3 stars because as a pair of low to medium power radios they aren't bad for the price and at least I can programme legal frequencies into them via CHIRP software.If anyone could enlighten me as to how to activate the aforementioned feature I would be most grateful.
