Forgotten corners of a global war...
Not many U.S. ground troops participated in the fighting in the China, Burma, and India (CBI) theater during the Second World War. However, the Nationalist Armies in China and the British Army in India and Burma were glad to have U.S. air support, including by units flying the rugged and versatile B-25 Mitchell Bomber. Working at the very limits of U.S. supply lines, and operating over some of the worst terrain in the world, the B-25 units delivered an impact all out of proportion to their numbers. This is their story...Author Edward Young provides a solid Osprey Combat Aircraft Series delivery, with an introduction to the area and the aircraft. The bulk of the narrative is a concise but surprisingly detailed account of the flying operations of B-25 units. Despite their small numbers, the B-25's had a significant impact on Japanese logistics, and were arguably vital to overall success in Burma and a strategic stalemate in China. The narrative is backed by lots of period photographs and a nice set of color plates of aircraft configurations. Well recommended to students of WWII's air war.

Very Valuable Resource
As with all Osprey aircraft publications, this book provides excellent illustrations and detailed history of B-25 Mitchell bombers operating in the China-Burma-India Theater. Excellent source for both the aviation historian and model maker.

Excellent review of a forgotten segment of WWII
Really liked the detail and the information on B-25 operations. So interesting to see how often operations were affected by weather and supplies.

...Train, Bridge, and Convoy Busting - Cool.
The usual OSPREY blueprint of consise, illustrated operations as stated in the title. For me, the train- and bridge-busting was interesting, and in particular, the ordnance improvisations ('Fuel' & 'Spike' bombs) were also. (I was an aviation ordnanceman in a Marine Harrier squadron)Japanese fighter opposition wasn't as involved as other theaters, but some Ki-43 and Ki-44 units were mentioned, and a few other twin-engined encounters. There were some major IJA ground operations that the Mitchells fought against I didn't know about either.
