Dragon in the Northwest
I wasn't interested in Carny, Sand Worms were so-so, but I did like Wyvern about a dragon terrorizing a community in the North woods.

Good Deal, Syfy Style...
This will be a review of the triple feature Syfy channel released, "Maneater Series" films, that were obviously made for TV. All were made in Canada. There are 3 films, on 3 individual disc, so picture quality, sound etc. are all good.I'll give a brief description and include a legend as follows;SS = Sexual Situations, V = Violence, D = Drug or Alcohol Use, AS = Adult Situations, L = Adult Language/Profanity, N = Nudity, BN = Brief Nudity, Terror, and Gore. I'll try to note any either graphic or explicit depictions of these.1) Wyvern - 2008, NR - Stars Nick Chinlund (new guy in town Jake)and Erin Karpluk (Claire) in the lead roles but you likely recognize Barry Corbin (Haas) and Don S. Davis (Colonel) in supporting roles among others, Tinsel Korey (Hampton, radio DJ) is on the cover of this title. North of the Arctic Circle, a prehistoric creature is awakened from its tomb of ice because of global warming, and wrecks havoc on a small Alaskan town. There is no way to escape, so they have to try and kill it, or be killed. Acting is pretty good, story is OK too. Give it 3 ½ stars. If you just watch it outside of critique mode it is fairly enjoyable. V, Terror, AS, very little gore.2) Sand Serpents - 2009, NR - Stars Jason Gedrick and Tamara Hope. Not a bad made for TV movie. Acting is good, script, directing etc. The creature FX are on par with Syfy channel, perhaps a tad better, kind of reminiscent of the Tremor movies but without the attempts at humor. And these guys are the bigger brother. A group of Marines are attacked by the Taliban and then stranded in a remote part of Afghanistan. But the Taliban aren't the real problem. Then again, are the sand serpents friends or foes? V, AS, maybe a little terror and mild Gore, TV style! Solid 3 ½. Very little corn and only a few failings in the writing for convenience sake.3) Carny - 2009, NR - Lou Diamond Phillips, Alan C. Peterson, Vlasta Vrana. I thought it better than some reviewers at various sites have indicated. I'd give it 3 ½ stars. It is enjoyable enough for made for TV fare. The bran new main attraction at a traveling carnival that they call "Devil" (it is supposed to be the reputed Jersey Devil) escapes and terrorizes a small town. The local preacher (Vrana) is out to wage holy war against the "Devil" and the carnival owner (Peterson). The local sheriff (Phillips) has his hands full, what with dead bodies, rampaging preachers, devious carnival owners, Jersey Devils and the like. Actually fairly interesting. Well acted, with little corn. Predictable, stereotypical, and worth a watch IMO. V, little more than typical Syfy Gore, AS, mild Terror. The creature FX are actually pretty good. For Value, this is a solid 4 star offering I don't think you can go wrong with. So, get these together as a set for around $5 and your in business. You might even pop `em in once in a great while, when your in the mood for well made B movie fodder you don't have to think about. Thanks!

We were famliar with Wyvern and enjoyed it. The other two movies, not so much.
We knew Wyvern from Amazon Prime and liked it. We will watch Wyvern; we will not again watch the other two movies.
