It works! Visual upgrade with no latency
I'm glad I bought this. I was skeptical, but it is a huge upgrade in fidelity vs the original wires. I'm happy to report that I tested and there is no human detectable latency added with these wires. There is some dithering on flat colors, but I'm not sure if that's native to the consoles original output and is hardly noticeable.I had to really push the connector in at the back of the console, if you're having trouble doublecheck the connection. Also, keep in mind not all games are VGA output compatible - but most are patchable.Well worth the buy!

Thanks Hyperkin!
As expected.I had my DC output to VGA, to a conversion box. It looked very nice, but it was a bulky set-up. The converter box required power, and outlet space is tight. This cord from Hyperkin is plug and play. No bulky box, and it powers itself. The picture looks the same as my bulky setup.I'm a casual collector who isn't looking for upscaling, or smoothing. I was looking for a down and dirty solution that didn't introduce any distortions. That is exactly what this cord provides, and nothing more.At the moment that I'm writing this review, better solutions were either not available, sold out, or too expensive. The YouTube reviews favored this Hyperkin cord over the others for sale currently on Amazon. In summary, this cord delivers.

Love this device
Is there a way to get this device to work on VGA compatible games for Sega Dreamcast and I want to have the display on 1080p but there isn't a switch on this item to change it from 4:3 with the black bars on the sides to full screen.

Works quite well for the price
This cable works nicely for cleaning up the Dreamcast's image on my HDTV. I use it on a 50 inch HDTV.The first pictures show without the hyperkin cable, using my TV's composite. The second pictures are with the Hyperkin cables through my TV's HDMI.It brightens up the picture a lot and clears up the resolution a good amount.Haven't tried too many games with it yet. Game in the photos is Sega Marine Fishing.

Way better than AV Cables... But Has Some Drawbacks
I was able to buy these cables "used" for around 10 bucks. The box was original and still sealed but smashed up very bad. The cable inside was literally brand new. I was honestly pretty impressed with the image quality. It's very sharp. Now there are a few disclaimers:1. There are better more expensive alternatives such as VGA boxes or the soon to be released HD Retrovision Component Cables.2. If you have a HDMI switch, the signal outputted by the cable is a stretched 16:9 image. The cable has no switch to change this. My TV can fix this in the settings, but if you wanna use your other HDMI devices on a switcher, you gotta change the ratio each time.3. Kind of a nitpick, but it takes a while for the image to appear once turning the Dreamcast on. The boot screen is about half way done by the time it picks up the signal. This may differ on other TVs.4. This cable taps into the 480p VGA signal of the Dreamcast. There are around 100 games that are incompatible; around half of these can be forced to boot by using a boot disc burned on a CD-R. (The codebreaker disc is best)Overall, I was very impressed with the image and is a huge improvement over the standard cables. If you're extremely picky about the quality, buy better alternatives. Everyone else, either find them cheap like I did or pay the thirty bucks if you think it's worth it.

Good Plug and Play Cable
I used this cable on my main game room tv and got no picture or audio. I tried all the HDMI ports, no luck. It is a 43" 2019 Sceptre. This cable DID work on my other TV which is a Samsung and the results were great and the image quality was crisp. I am not sure why it did not work on my other TV. If anyone else encountered a similar issue and found a solution please let me know.

Almost returned, but realized the cable just needed to be adjusted slightly. Great image quality!
When I initially plugged in the Hyperkin cable, I was met with blue-ish tinted hd gameplay. Believing the cable to be a dud, I unplugged it while the Dreamcast was still on and saw a flash of the correct color while removing the cable.I realized that you need to make sure the cable is not inserted all the way into the Dreamcast (at least my model). It's not sticking out, just not jammed in all the way.Now that the color is correct, the 480p quality makes the gameplay much more enjoyable. Attached is a Sonic Adventure comparison of my original Dreamcast composite cable vs the Hyperkin 480p signal.Your milage may vary when it comes to plugging into a computer monitor – I haven't been able to get the Dreamcast to run on my LG monitor with the Hyperkin cable. However, it works well on all TVs I have tried.Recommended!
