It'll choke your guitar's neck...in a good way.
THIS THING IS FANTASTIC!!!!WHAT THE HELL HAVE I BEEN DOING ALL OF THESE YEARS WITH REGULAR STANDS?!?I have some incredibly hard-to-replace guitars, and to be fair, they're kept in a climate controlled room inside their cases. But I do have my "everyday" guitar which does live in a stand: an early 90's a Candy Apple Red Ibanez RG565.Holys**it this stand feels like quality! You can put it in the stand with one hand and the doodad at the top traps your guitar in the stand until you lift your guitar upward. No more fumbling with that little rubber strap on regular stands (as if you hadn't lost it, anyway). With my Ibanez "locked" into the stand, I tried pretty hard to "whap" the headstock from behind and tip the guitar forward. Because of it lean-back design, it would take 2 whole piles of stupid to accidentally knock your guitar onto its face.I got this GS415B instead of the GS414B, because the part that grips the headstock folds down. I thought this would be good for travel. You don't want to blow your chance at fame and fortune because you poked some record exec. in the eye with your guitar stand at a recording studio do you? Well..? DO YOU?!?!?Anywhen, buy it. It's nice.P.S. I liked it so much, that I also bought the "Hercules GSB001 Carry Bag For GS412/414/415" here on Amazon. It's a nice place for the stand to sleep when the guitar is in the case and I put some spare cables, picks, batteries, etc. in there.

This is a must-have for serious guitar players...
Up until now I have been using the relatively cheap guitar stands, which are fine, but I've always been concerned about leaving guitars in those stands for too long. I have pets wandering around. This stand is much more sturdy and reliable. So I've ordered another. The only problem I had was with Amazon. Being a Prime member I expect delivery in a day or two, but lately it's been taking 5 days or so, which is what it took for this stand to arrive. The second one will also take 5 days despite Amazon telling me it would be 2 days. What is Amazon's delivery guarantee? There isn't one. You'll get a lot of apologies and they'll offer to cancel the order if you like, just to repeat the process. Is Prime really worth having?

Great stand, well worth the extra $
While this stand is more expensive than some of it's competitors, it is easy to see why once you get it. The construction is very solid and creates a very stable platform for your treasured axe. It is adequately padded and the grabbing mechanism is very secure and completely unobtrusive. Another nice feature is that this stand is more vertical than many of the other stands I have used, meaning that you don't have to provide a lot of clearance between the stand and the wall. I liked this product so much that started buying other products by this company (namely the wall hangers and music stand). As a side note, I have used this stand with 2 solid body electric strat style guitars and an ovation acoustic. It has been a great for those. I cannot comment on how it will do with an odd shape like a Dean Razorback, an ML or flying V. Then again, most other stands aren't all that hot for those either.

NOT FOR A FLYING V
The answer is NO, do not buy this otherwise excellent product for your Flying V.The legs have padding for the bottom/backside of a normal guitar. That’s a problem for the Flying V as it only has the prongs of the V.So you either set the height of the grip so the prongs are straddling each leg of the stand or are resting on them (prong end touching stand leg). When adjusted to straddle the back of your guitar will most likely smack against the robust yellow piece the legs fold out of. Ouch. When positioned so the guitar’s extremities touch, it’s uncomfortably delicate. You could meticulously find a magical middle spot so your V sits safely, but the movements involved with putting your V into the stand will eventually trip you up.BRILLIANT stand otherwise. I bought it for the V but will use it for The Cloud. Buy without hesitation, just not for your V. Or your Mad Cat. Or one of those 80s basses with no headstock. The grip is not for the narrow of headstock and does not rotate.

Best guitar stand I've ever seen/owned
I have only had it for a few days, but so far, I love this guitar stand. It was easy and intuitive to assemble; it only took me about two minutes to remove it from the box and put it together without any tools. The folding yoke (where the guitar's headstock rests) is stable, and the stand's construction looks and feels pretty sturdy. It is nicely padded, and is stable when placed on a flat surface. I couldn't think of anything I would do to improve the product. However, one possible issue came to mind: I don't own any guitars without headstocks, so I don't know how they would interact with the folding yoke. Such instruments may not be as secure, but I couldn't say for sure, as I have never tried for myself.I will try taking it on a few gigs and update this review once I see how it performs on the road.

Best instrument stand I have ever owned!
Best stand I ever owned... until tonight... the left "Auto Grab yoke" quit closing. I took a quick look at the "lifetime warranty" and it appears this won't be covered, as it is likely a spring or other wear and tear type part. Bear in mind this particular stand has never been gigged or even taken out of my home. I'm going to contact the manufacturer anyway and will likely buy a replacement... until now it has been a rock solid stand.I had to come back and change my review to a 5 Star review. Hercules customer service is sending me a new stand to replace this one... so their "lifetime warranty" does appear to be exactly that!I will soon replace my non Hercules stands with more GS415B stands!
